The next moment, the mastiffs dug their front paws into the ground, preparing to pounce and knock Sandra down. Angela couldn’t bear to watch and subconsciously closed her eyes. But she didn’t hear any screams.
Beside her, Debra gasped in astonishment. Angela frowned and opened her eyes, puzzled.
To her surprise, the mastiffs, who should have been tearing into Sandra, were now lying obediently by her side. Angela noticed that the four mastiffs had wounds on their backs, as though they had been stabbed with a knife. They were still bleeding.
Sandra gently caressed the mastiffs’ heads and tended to their wounds. The dogs became even more docile. One of them even gratefully licked Sandra’s palm.
Angela was stunned.
It was impossible! She rubbed her eyes again, hoping everything she just saw was an illusion. But it wasn’t.
Her face turned pale, and she trembled slightly. Sandra was eerie!
Debra’s face darkened. But as if she knew exactly what they were thinking, Sandra suddenly turned around. Debra and Angela didn’t have time to react.
Sandra suddenly smiled. “You’re right.”
Debra and Angela exchanged confused glances.
Sandra continued, “The mastiffs protect their owners, but only the true owner.”
To perhaps confirm her words, as soon as she finished speaking, the four mastiffs stood up and howled at Debra and Angela. Angela, terrified, shrank back. Debra, who was more composed, still couldn’t withstand the inherent intimidation from the mastiffs and hurriedly closed the door.
As soon as the door was closed, the mastiffs calmed down. Sandra really liked these four intelligent dogs. Unfortunately, she didn’t have the time to keep pets. Otherwise, she would have bought them and raised them herself.
“I helped you, and you helped me. Now we’re even. Go find your owner.”

The four mastiffs wagged their tails. As if they truly understood her words, they turned and ran in the opposite direction.
Sandra watched them leave, her expression thoughtful.
Wesley rolled his wheelchair over. “How did you know they were injured?”
Sandra grabbed the wheelchair and pushed it herself. “They knew I saved you and your father.”
Wesley looked at her, surprised. “So, they came seeking help?”
Sandra asked, “Did you only just realize that?”
Wesley was speechless. He would eventually be driven crazy by Sandra’s temperament. “But even though the mastiffs are smart, they still follow their owner’s orders. It was their owner who sent them.”
Wesley immediately snapped back to reality and spoke slowly. “Somebody intentionally harmed them and drove them crazy.”
Sandra nodded seriously. “There’s no place in the Cooper family for you.”
Wesley was speechless. Although it was the truth, it was too hurtful.
The two left the Cooper Mansion and returned to the Cooper Villa. After they drove Karen away, the villa seemed empty. Leo had hired a few more servants this time, so when they came back, they saw some new faces.
The housekeeper was a young woman named Jennifer Cameron. She was neat, experienced, and Sandra was quite satisfied. She gave her some important instructions.
Sandra was tired that day, but she still insisted on giving Wesley acupuncture before resting. When she woke up, it was already the next day. Jennifer had prepared a delicious breakfast, but before they could eat, Leo spoke up.
“Mr. Cooper, the Cooper Group has announced that they will assign the design department to you.”
Sandra silently picked up a sandwich, her curiosity piqued.
Leo continued, “According to the latest news, the design department has received a challenging order from a famous painter.”
The sandwich in Sandra’s hand suddenly lost its appeal. Leo knew they were waiting for more information, so he continued.
“There are only three days left. All the designs from the design department were rejected by the painter. He threatened to cancel the cooperation with the Cooper Group if he is not satisfied after three days.”
Normally, the Cooper Group wouldn’t take a partnership so seriously, but the design department was now under Wesley’s responsibility. If their first business venture failed, Wesley’s reputation would take a significant hit.
Leo hesitated before suggesting, “We investigated this painter. He is Mrs. Cooper’s brother Philip’s mentor.”
Sandra put down the sandwich, annoyed. “So, you want me to beg Philip so his mentor can go easy on us?”
Leo immediately lowered his head in embarrassment. That was indeed what he was thinking. If possible, he would even beg Philip on Sandra’s behalf.
Sandra turned to Wesley and asked, “Do you think the same way?”
Wesley hadn’t eaten yet, and his face was gloomy, as if a storm was brewing. But for some reason, her words seemed to calm him down. He picked up a sandwich and took a bite.
“Leo, go accept the punishment yourself.”
Leo argued, “This is the best solution.”
Wesley insisted, “Double your punishment.”
Leo was speechless. He couldn’t persuade Wesley, so he reluctantly agreed to accept the punishment.
Sandra’s anger began to dissipate. After a while, she suddenly spoke up, breaking the silence.
“As the deputy director of the technical department, I should go to work today, right?”
Wesley turned to her and said, “You know the technical department is right next to the design department, right?”
Sandra choked on her milk and coughed for a moment. How was she supposed to know about the Cooper Group’s affairs? The atmosphere had been too awkward earlier, and she just wanted to ease the tension.
Wesley pushed the bread toward Sandra with a smile.
At the Hill Villa, Emily was surprised. “Philip, are you serious? Is Mr. Harrison really willing to give The Beauty to me?”
Philip Hill smiled affectionately at her. “You are the most beautiful little princess. Of course, you deserve The Beauty.”
Emily blushed and lowered her head shyly. The Beauty was Ben Harrison’s ultimate masterpiece, featuring twelve classical beauties.
Rumor had it that the painting was created for the most beautiful woman in the world, which made it highly coveted. Emily had been begging Philip for a long time, and now, at last, there was news!
