Chapter 523

chapter523

So this was their real daughter? Please. She only had eyes on their money.

"I'm going to count to three. If you don't start, I'll fire a hundred darts." Lydia pointed her wrist gun straight at them.

Jenson and Milana were practically shaking with anger. In their heads, they were cursing her out. Lydia was a complete menace.

"Lydia! You you'll pay for this!" Milana yelled, her hand shaking as she pointed at Lydia.

Lydia just let out a cold laugh. "Three... two..."

Slap.

Slap.

Slap.

They knew they couldn't fight her. Jenson and Milana bit down their pride and started slapping their own faces. The shame burned, but they didn't have a choice. Deep down, both of them swore they'd pay her back for this one day.

It took them about fifteen minutes to get through a hundred slaps each. By the end, their faces were so swollen they barely looked human, skin red and almost raw.

Ly... dia..... Milana tried to spit out another insult, but the pain shooting through her cheeks stopped her cold. She sucked in a breath and kept quiet.

"What are you waiting for? Want another hundred?" Lydia smiled, but her eyes were ice-cold.

Jenson and Milana didn't need telling twice. They grabbed their things and ran. Sandy threw Lydia a nasty glare, but followed after them.

"Lyds, Connor, come here!" Mrs. Smith called out, her face lighting up as she waved them over.

"Grandma," Lydia said, helping her inside.

"Connor, I'm so sorry you had to see all that. Are you feeling better?" Mrs. Smith looked him up and down. He seemed back to his old self, so she relaxed a little.

"I'm fine. With Lydia here, my injuries healed fast."

"That's a relief." Mrs. Smith turned to Lydia.

Lydia helped her to a chair. How are your legs? Don't stand too long if you're tired, all right?"

"I've been feeling much better lately. Really."

Mrs. Smith sat, taking a good look at Connor. The more she looked, the more she liked him. There was something familiar about him, too a glimmer that reminded her of someone from long ago.

"Is your grandfather doing well?" she asked quietly.

Connor nodded. He's in good health."

"That's good." Mrs. Smith looked like she wanted to say more, but stopped herself.

Connor had already guessed there

he

was a connection between Mrs. Smith and his grandfather. She never said anyt thing outright, didn't ask. He figured he'd talk to his grandfather about it later.

Lyds, I don't think Smith Corporation will last much longer. When you go back, start preparing to take over. I don't want everything I've built to fall into someone else's hands."

"I understand, Grandma."

Mrs. Smith was right. The company had run out of money. All those business partners had rather break ther contracts than have anything to do with Jenson now. People treated him like he was contagious.

Jenson and Milana would never have crawled back to Mrs. Smith if

they weren't out of options. But not only did they leave empty handed Lydia had alsted them. It was almost enough to make them sick.

Neither of them dared show their faces at the hospital they didn't want to explain how they'd gotten hurt again so they sent Sandy to the pharmacy for some medicine and took care of themselves.

Jenson was dabbing ointment on his face when his phone rang. He picked up, and a frantic voice came through the line.

"Mr. Smith, things are bad! All those companies we used to work with brought a bunch of reporters to the building. They're outside demanding refunds!"

Jenson's anger spiked. He tried to answer, but his jaw ached so badly he could barely get the words out.

Just... figure something out. Get rid of them. I'll call the head of LYLX myself!"
