chapter1092
Kylie and Cameron just sat there, stunned. There were actually things happening
they didn't know about? Still, it kind of made sense. They weren't really involved in anything these days. Blake was the one managing everything, so of course he had all the inside information.
Kylie suddenly looked worried. "Lydia, your uncle got investigated too?
The whole thing had been kept under wraps, so Kylie really had no idea her own brother had been questioned.
Lydia nodded, her tone calm. Yeah. Uncle William's about to be promoted to Minister of Foreign Affairs. It's totally normal for them to run background checks before he takes office."
Cameron still didn't get it. He frowned, then just asked, But Lydia, why would you be investigated with him?"
They really weren't on the same page.
Blake seemed to catch on, his eyes going wide as he stared at Lydia. "Wait, Lydia, you're not... on the government payroll, are you?"
Kylie and Cameron both stared, completely shocked.
Lydia just smiled at Blake. "I am. But I'm in a different department from Uncle
William. They probably just wanted to make sure there were no conflicts of interest,
so they had to check everything out, just to be sure.
Blake grinned and gave Lydia a thumbs up. Lydia, you keep surprising me. Seriously."
Her uncle was about to become Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Lydia had been investigated alongside him. There was no way her job was a minor one. Blake was honestly amazed. His sister had managed to surprise him again.
Kylie and Cameron were still trying to wrap their heads around it. Was their daughter really this impressive?
Kylie finally found her voice. "Lydia, are you and William alright?
Lydia laughed. "Of course we are. If something happened to us, would I even be here right now?"
The one in trouble was Jackson, not them.
Kylie let out a breath. That's good. We're heading to your uncle's place tonight to celebrate his promotion. Can you come with us?
They were a little nervous about Lydia showing up so soon after the investigation. What if someone took it the wrong way?
"It's fine, I can go, Lydia said.
"nieces been cleared up. I'm
his niece. Just because he's getting promoted are we supposed
pretend we're not family anymore?
Lydia had already prepared all the paperwork and documentation when she found out William was getting promoted, just in case she needed it for the investigation.
Blake lowered his voice. "So what about Jackson? Why was he investigated too?"
Blake had heard that Lydia, William, the head of the Inspectorate, Easton, and Jackson had all been pulled in.
When Jackson's name came up, Lydia's eyes narrowed just a little. "Him? He's never been exactly clean.
He deserved to be investigated. The rest of us are out, but he still stuck
in there. He's not going to have a
good time, trust me."
Blake couldn't help but laugh. Judging by the way Lydia said it, Jackson was really in for it this time.
Suddenly, Lydia remembered something. "Dad, Mom, how's Grandpa doing lately?"
At the mention of Mr. Norwood, both Kylie and Cameron looked even more worried.
"Your grandfather's been pretty irritable since he got home from the hospital," Cameron admitted.
"It's probably because of his health,"
Kylie added. He used to go

wherever he wanted, whenever he wanted, and now he can't. He's frustrated, so his temper's gotten, worse. Lydia, don't let what he said earlier bother you. Just let it go, okay?"
Kylie still looked worried, probably thinking Lydia would be upset over whatever Grandpa had said.
Lydia gave her a small, reassuring smile. "I'm not upset. Really. I'm just going to go upstairs, take a shower and change.
"Alright, go ahead," Kylie said.
Lydia headed upstairs, and Tina followed her. "I'll get the bath ready for you."
Lydia smiled and nodded. "Thank you."
