Chapter 36: Chapter 36

Zachary didn’t answer.

He was overwhelmed with shock.

His granddaughter liked jade, so he had studied it.

This emerald bracelet was obviously dyed.

It appeared crystal clear, but it was toxic to humans.

“I believe in your loyalty to the Cooper family,” Sandra said, noticing that Zachary’s mind was in turmoil.

She deliberately mocked him.

“But Zachary, you should think about who’s been handling these things and who’s been coveting them. I’ll give you one day. If you can’t resolve this, then…” She deliberately paused.

Zachary looked up at her, his face filled with hope.

Clearly, he was hoping she would let it slide.

However, Sandra was not one to be taken advantage of.

“I’ll have to involve the police.”

Zachary’s eyes dimmed instantly.

The Cooper family was a prominent family in Geniston. If even a slight disturbance occurred, the media would blow it up.

If it became known that Hailey had given Sandra fake jewelry, it would probably lead to rumors of the Cooper family going bankrupt.

Zachary couldn’t even imagine how much of an impact it would cause once the situation escalated.

And if he couldn’t find evidence, he would be the suspect. He would go to jail, and his grandchildren’s reputation would be tarnished.

“Mrs. Cooper,” he said, his tone much more respectful.

“I will investigate this matter and give you an answer by tomorrow.”

Sandra pointed at the other boxes.

“Have you calculated the value of these items?”

Zachary didn’t understand what she meant.

Sandra made it clearer.

“Madam Cooper has been good to me, so I must share it with the whole world.”

Implicitly, she would inform the media about this matter. Once the news was reported, everyone would know what Hailey was up to.

Zachary’s face turned pale.

But he couldn’t stop Sandra from doing so.

He could only force a smile.

“Mrs. Cooper, in case the remaining items are also fake, how about I take them back to examine them carefully?”

Sandra sneered mockingly.

“Sure, but how long will it take? I can’t possibly wait a year or two before I get Madam Cooper’s gifts, right?”

Zachary trembled with anger.

But there was nothing he could do about it. Sandra held all the power now.

He took a deep breath.

“Mrs. Cooper, I will give you an answer within three days.”

“That’s good.”

Sandra waved her phone.

“Just to be safe, I recorded a video. You don’t mind, do you?”

Zachary was filled with resentment.

Was it useful to complain now?

He planned to take these items back in order to minimize the impact of this matter.

He even planned to accuse Sandra of twisting the truth. But he never expected that Sandra, a country bumpkin, would be so cunning!

“Mrs. Cooper, you are thoughtful.”

Sandra chuckled.

“You flatter me.”

Zachary came confidently but left in disappointment.

When he left, he couldn’t even stand steadily. Several bodyguards had to help him get into the car.

Sandra still maintained her graceful smile as she waved at the car.

Zachary hurriedly closed his eyes.

He didn’t want to see her.

Sandra was so terrifying, and he was scared of her.

Sandra was in a good mood. She turned around and saw Wesley sitting in a wheelchair, watching her from the doorway.

“You scared me.”

She gave Wesley an annoyed look, walked over, and held onto the wheelchair.

“Mr. Cooper, I treated you to a show. Shouldn’t you thank me?”

Wesley rubbed his sore arm.

Sandra was ruthless when she used the needles.

Why should he thank her?

“Well,” he slowly spoke,

“Tomorrow, I’ll treat you to a show.”

Sandra raised an eyebrow.

“But tomorrow is a long way off.”

Wesley asked, “What do you mean?”

“Mr. Cooper, I heard there is a mysterious auction in Geniston. Do you have an invitation?”

Wesley frowned.

That mysterious auction in Geniston required proof of funds.

He had only been once before he became a vegetable.

At that auction, he had been poisoned.

Even if Sandra didn’t mention it, he still wanted to go again and investigate what had happened back then. He always felt that the person who poisoned him was someone he knew!

“What else do you know?”

He wanted to know what Sandra wanted to auction this time.

He was the son of the Cooper family, but the Cooper Group was now under Debra’s control. If he used their funds to participate in the auction, he wouldn’t be able to hide it from Debra.

Of course, he didn’t need to involve Debra to get the money, but he wanted to know if this effort was worth it.

Sandra leaned against the door, a playful smile on her lips.

“You need a certain herb for your illness, and I heard that it will appear at the auction today!”

Wesley hesitated.

He was swayed.

“I can take you there, but…”

“I know the rules.”

Sandra smiled faintly, covering her eyes.

“People there don’t want to reveal their identities and will wear masks. I’ll prepare myself.”

Wesley squinted.

Only a few people in Geniston knew about the mysterious auction.

How did she, who had lived in the countryside for so many years, know about it?

And how did she know so much detail?

He knew that even if he asked these questions, Sandra wouldn’t answer.

Even if she did, they would all be lies.

He didn’t want to waste his breath.

Wesley said flatly, “You must listen to me there.”

Sandra suddenly leaned closer with a smile.

“What do you mean by that?”

Her face was exquisitely delicate. As she leaned closer, he could hardly see any pores on her skin. Her eyelashes were long and slightly curled.

Wesley stared at them obsessively.

He felt itchy for no reason.

His heart trembled inexplicably, and a tingling sensation quickly spread throughout his body.

His breathing seemed to pause for a moment.

And he even forgot to answer her question.

Sandra straightened up with a smile and lazily leaned against the door.

“If I listen to you, will you pay for me at the auction?”

Wesley was brought back to reality by this question.

“What do you think?” he asked.
