chapter1793
Foreman watched Haynes's retreating back, his eyes turning ice-cold.
Moving out so suddenly... was he getting wary of me?
At that thought, Foreman took out his phone and sent a message to Keen.
[Keen, you weren't with your mom for her birthday last time, and you didn't get to give her your gift in person. Want to give her a surprise this time?]
Keen replied almost instantly. [Yes!]
Stella was a bit surprised when she got a call from Keen saying he had a surprise for her.
"Why the sudden surprise, Keen?" Stella asked with a smile.
"I wasn't with you for your birthday this year, so I want to give you a surprise," Keen said honestly.
When Stella didn't say anything, Keen quickly added, "Mom, it's a date! Next weekend at 7:30 p.m. You have to be there!"
Without waiting for her to reply, Keen quickly hung up.
Stella stared at the dial tone and chuckled in spite of herself.
Joshua, who was beside her, asked, "Was that Keen?"
Stella nodded and told him what Keen had said.
Joshua smiled after hearing the story. "It's nice of Keen to be so thoughtful."
"You have your treatment session on Saturday afternoon," Stella said. "After it's over, we'll go find Keen together."
"Okay," Joshua agreed.
Then, as if remembering something, Joshua asked, "I ran into Abby yesterday, and she didn't look too good. Did something happen?"
"Yeah, some things came up with her family, so she had to go back to Neo-Vespera to handle them," Stella explained. "She's been by my side working for so long, and she's exhausted. I gave her a month off."
"After she left Harland Lerman, has she been in contact with him?" Joshua asked suddenly.
"I asked Abby about it," Stella said. "She told me she hasn't been in touch with Harland."
"Tell Abby to let us know immediately if she and Harland suddenly get in contact," Joshua said.
Stella knew Joshua was worried
about the Lerman family shares and that Harland might move against her. Her relationship with Harland was, at best, a partnership; there was no deep friendship between them. Now that so many shares had fallen into her lap, it was practically a change of ownership for the Lerman family. Harland might not be able to sit still.
Stella took Joshua's cold hand. "I will."
Time flew by, and the weekend arrived.
After Joshua's treatment session, the two of them headed to the address Keen had sent.
As soon as they entered the hall, Stella heard the elegant sound of a violin.
Her eyes immediately found Keen, standing in the center of a small stage, playing his violin with intense focus. The spotlight shone down on him iluminating his beautiful little face in serious concentration.
The familiar melody reached Stella's ears. She easily recognized it as her old signature piece, "Moonlight."
It had been a long time since Stella had played the violin or had time to attend a concert. Hearing "Moonlight now, shercouldnt help but stop in her tracks. Keen's performance had quite a few mistakes and shortcomings, but Stella could clearly tell that he had
practiced very hard.
When he finished, Stella thought it was over. But then, Marvin appeared on stage.
He also played one of Stella's pieces.
Stella found a seat and sat down. It turned out to be a small, private concert.
Not only were Keen and Marvin performing, but even Antoney Watson, Lauretta Chapman, and others had been gathered to play for her.
