Chapter 968

chapter968

The air trembled with the tension of an invasion, a palpable force that made breathing seem like a

luxury.

Thalassa trembled with excess fear, her limbs still weak from the ordeal, as she glanced towards the

doorway. There, striding in with a commanding presence that seemed to dominate the very room, was

a tall figure flanked by an entourage. His regal bearing was unmatched-án aura that spoke of a ruler

among men.

It was Lysander!

Thalassa’s heart fluttered with a mixture of dread and an inexplicable sensation.

“Lysander…”

Her voice was hoarse, the words barely escaping her lips. She wanted to tell him about the harrowing

events she had just endured, but a wave of overwhelming emotion surged within her, bringing tears to

her eyes.

She hadn’t felt the urge to cry when faced with the cruelty and danger earlier, but now, in the presence

of him, vulnerability surfaced, and all the fear and grievances came flooding out.

Struggling to maintain her balance, Thalassa attempted to move towards Lysander.

But his countenance was cold as ice, his aura chilling as if it emanated from the depths of hell itself.

With long strides, he reached out and grasped Thalassa’s arm, yanking her away from Callum’s grasp.

Thalassa stumbled, her knees nearly giving out beneath her, and she almost fell.

Lysander’s arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her forcefully against his sturdy torso. His powerful

arm held her close, pressing her seamlessly into the fit against his body.

Through the fabric, Thalassa could feel the solidness of his abdomen, radiating a heat that seemed to

scorch her.

Her breath hitched, her cheeks flushing with warmth.

Before her heart could steady itself, Lysander’s index finger tilted her chin upward, compelling her to

meet his icy gaze.

“Did they take you against your will, or did you go willingly?” Lysander’s voice was a low rumble, laced

with an anger on the brink of eruption.

He had searched for her frantically, worried for her safety.

And yet, here she was, in a hotel room with Callum, wrapped up in an embrace!

Hearing his words, Thalassa felt the sting of his cold tone, a tightness seizing her chest.

Her eyes, already reddened, now prickled with pain.

She looked up at him, bewildered, “Lysander, what do you mean?”

A sneer crept across Lysander’s lips. “That look in your eyes… Are you upset that I interrupted your

little rendezvous?”

Thalassa’s heart sank. After surviving such an ordeal, she had felt a sense of relief upon seeing

Lysander, an urge to lean on him for support.

But his words were a betrayal.

Tears streamed down her face, not from sorrow or pain, but from a heart that ached with

disappointment and distress.

She had been through a harrowing kidnapping, faced with the prospect of ruin, yet not a single tear had

fallen. But now, a single sentence from Lysander was all it took to pierce her heart, crumbling the walls

she had built around it.

Suddenly, it dawned on her why had she expected anything from him? Why had she even thought of

seeking comfort in his arms?

Wasn’t it Lysander who had always hurt her the most?

She had actually been waiting for him to rescue her, even wanting to share her fears and helplessness

with him.

How foolish she had been.

Why would Lysander ever care for her?

The irony of her momentary hope mocked her.

Lysander’s deep eyes remained cold as they observed her, watching the tears spill from her clear eyes.

Every part of him seemed to flinch at the sight, his brows furrowing slightly.

“Hah, I’ve heard the rumors that Lysander was heartless and cut off from all kin, but I never believed

them,” Callum suddenly chuckled. “Now, having witnessed your cruelty firsthand, I have no choice but

to believe.” Lysander’s steely gaze shifted towards him.
