chapter886
Richard approached Charlotte with a serious look on his handsome face, "You know, Charlotte, maybe
it's not such a bad thing that you and Lysander have called off your engagement."
Hearing Richard's words, Charlotte's temper, already at boiling point, threatened to explode. She glared
at Richard, "What do you mean by that, Richard? Did I offend you? You first publicly confirmed that the
charm bracelet Amelia showed was real, and now this? How does my broken engagement with
Lysander benefit you?"
Charlotte was practically shrieking. Her anger was so intense it made her whole body tremble and the
veins on her neck bulge.
"Easy there, Charlotte," Richard said as he raised his hands in a calming gesture, "Your broken
engagement doesn't benefit me, but it might be a good thing for you."
"Excuse me?" Charlotte was even angrier now.
"Think about it," Richard explained. "Lysander and Thalassa have four kids together, and Thalassa
spends a lot of time at Lysander's place. Their relationship is more than just complicated. Messing up
with Lysander will only waste your time and youth. It's better to move on and pursue your own
happiness."
"I'll waste my time if I want to. That's none of your business!" Charlotte retorted. Her fists clenched, her
breaths came in short, and her face was red with anger.
Richard took a deep breath, struggling to keep his impatience and frustration in check. He managed a
smile, "I can't tell you what to do, Charlotte, but it's a shame to see you pining over him. You're
beautiful, accomplished, and the lady of the prestigious Ravensong family. You deserve a better
future."
Richard was genuinely concerned for Charlotte, hence his candid advice about which life path she
should choose for her own interests.
They had grown up together, and the Dravens had a close rapport with the Ravensongs. They had
been friends since childhood, going to school together, and occasionally hanging out. He hated to see
her stuck on Lysander. He knew it wasn't doing her any good.
Only someone who truly cared would tell you the harsh reality and to help you see the light.
Charlotte softened a bit upon hearing Richard's compliments, but she was still mad, "So that was why
you decided to embarrass me in public by confirming that the bracelet was real?"
"The bracelet is real, Charlotte. I was just telling the truth. Besides, if anyone should be embarrassed,
it's Amelia, not you, right?"
Richard's counter-question left Charlotte momentarily speechless. She realized her slipped tongue so
she quickly averted her eyes, "Never mind..."
She had almost given away her plot with Amelia to frame Thalassa.
Amelia's earlier insistence that the bracelet was a fake was nothing more than an attempt to downplay
the issue and save Charlotte. By publicly confirming the bracelet's authenticity, Richard was effectively
undermining their plan.
"Charlotte, you are a really stunning girl with a prominent family background. You can definitely find a
better man." Richard decided not to dwell on the incident at the party.
It was clear to anyone with eyes that Charlotte and Amelia were colluding to frame Thalassa. Why else
would Amelia be so eager to claim the bracelet was fake?
She could have stayed out of it, but she was in a rush to cover things up. Smart ones could easily
figure out her involvement in it.
Both Amelia and Charlotte were too hasty. They should have planned their scheme better before
targeting Thalassa.
