Chapter 876

chapter876

Charlotte was desperately trying to catch the attention of Amelia.

But Amelia herself was on the brink of a precipice. How could she spare a thought for Charlotte?

Susan, pale as a ghost, was trying to lower her profile, stealthily preparing to leave the banquet.

She had barely taken a few steps when a towering, black-suited bodyguard blocked her path, radiating

an intimidating aura, his expression stern.

Susan froze, flashed a flattering smile, and tried to walk past him. The bodyguard blocked her way, his

face expressionless as he asked, “Susan, where are you off to?”

“I, I need to use the restroom…” Susan stammered, trying to bluff her way out, heading towards the

banquet’s exit.

The bodyguard blocked her escape. “Susan, the investigation will be over soon. Hold it in.”

“What?” Susan was taken aback, wondering if she had misheard. The bodyguard was actually asking

her to hold her pee!

What kind of request was that?

Lysander’s men even manage to be unique when it comes to intimidation, their presence

overwhelming.

Even with an excuse at her disposal, Susan could not escape. Her initially panicked expression

instantly turned ashen. She had no choice but to stand still, the bodyguard towering next to her, his

domineering presence making her feel the pressure.

The person in charge quickly pulled up the surveillance footage, projecting it onto the banquet’s big

screen.

The screen showed Charlotte whispering something to Susan. Then, Charlotte took off a bracelet from

her wrist and handed it to Susan. Susan walked over to Thalassa and, seizing the opportunity of getting

close to her, slipped the bracelet into her pocket.

Next, Charlotte turned up, falsely accusing Thalassa of stealing her bracelet.

The surveillance footage captured it all, crystal clear.

This was a premeditated frame-up.

Zephyr’s face darkened, his murky eyes shooting daggers at Charlotte.

“Ms. Ravensong, you’ve outdone yourself!” Zephyr thundered.

Terrified, Charlotte’s shoulders shuddered slightly, her body trembling subtly. Her lips quivered, on the

brink of tears, “Grandpa, I’m sorry… I saw Thalassa bearing Lysander four children, and I panicked. I

was afraid I wouldn’t be able to marry Lysander, so… I went to such lengths. It’s all because I’m so in

love with him.”

Charlotte had always referred to Zephyr as ‘Grandpa’, just like Lysander did.

“Silence!” Zephyr bellowed, his rage so intense that he started to cough.

Lysander stepped forward, gently patting Zephyr’s back. “Grandpa, calm down.”

Zephyr was old, and the recent deaths of Sybil and Leopold had hit him hard. His health was not what it

used to be.

Now, his rage was making him feel breathless.

After a few moments, he raised his hawk-like eyes to Charlotte and said, “The Sinclair family is too

noble to associate with a woman of such lowly methods as you. Go tell your grandfather that what we

discussed years ago was merely a jest. Your family never took it seriously, and so we should not either.

There was never any engagement between you and Lysander!”

These words, spoken by Zephyr himself, were a bomb exploded in Charlotte’s head.

It felt like her world was collapsing.

Ever since she laid eyes on Lysander, she had fallen for him. She had always been fluttering around

him, trying to get close to him, relying solely on the playful promise made between Zephyr and her

grandfather when they were young.

However, the Ravensong family never took such a promise seriously, and her grandfather never told

her about any intended match with Lysander.

Because of this, she had dated several other men.

But from the moment she saw Lysander, she had been captivated by his looks, his competence, and

his charisma.

After all, what woman wouldn’t fall for a man who was handsome, fit, wealthy, powerful, and yet not a

philanderer?
