chapter784
Meanwhile, Lysander was holding Sophia in one arm while quickly scooping Elowen up with the other,
guarding the two children closely within his sturdy frame.
Behind him, the deafening sounds of explosions echoed, one after another, in a terrifying chorus.
Screams and cries of pain filled the air.
The explosions occurred so swiftly that nobody had time to react or take any protective measures.
From the onset of the explosions to the cessation, only a few seconds elapsed.
Thalassa’s arms, clutching the children, trembled slightly from tension.
When the explosions ceased, she turned her head in fright to see a scene of utter devastation.
The two workers who had been carrying boxes were sprawled on the ground; one’s face was
unrecognizable, his neck punctured by shards of glass, blood seeping relentlessly.
The other’s chest was a gruesome mess of torn flesh and blood. He lay convulsing on the ground, a
sight so horrifying that it induced despair.
The store staff who had been arranging cellphones on the counter had fled, huddled in fear at a safe
distance.
The marble floor was littered with shards of glass, cellphone parts, and blood.
Thalassa, terrified, started to dry heave as she took in the scene.
She looked at Leopold, who was hiding in a corner behind the glass counter. His arm was impaled with
several pieces of glass, blood seeping through and droplets falling one by one.
Not only his arm, but his back too was impaled with shards of glass. His brown shirt was soaked with
blood, turning dark black under the light.
Thalassa’s heart sank as she called out in worry, “Leopold!”
Leopold loosened the hand holding his head and looked back at her. He looked at Thalassa with his
bloodshot eyes and his emotions crumbled. Tears welled up in his eyes as he gritted his teeth, trying to
suppress the pain.
Seeing Leopold’s pain-filled, terrified eyes, Thalassa’s heart convulsed violently and she wanted to go
forward and check on his injuries. As she moved, the child in her arms grabbed her hand. In a weak
and trembling voice, filled with fear, the child whimpered, “Mommy, I’m scared, so scared…!
Thalassa snapped back to reality, seeing Dorian clutching her hand, his young face on the verge of
tears from fear.
Thalassa quickly stopped, covering the children’s eyes with her hand, her voice trembling, “Don’t be
scared. I will take you out of here now. Don’t worry, I’m here…”
With one hand covering each child’s eyes, she turned her back on the chaotic scene and headed for
another exit in the mall.
“Call an ambulance, and call the police! Seal off the scene. Don’t let anyone approach! Lysander
instructed the mall manager in a stern
tone.
The manager, pale and shaking, had never dealt with such a serious incident during his tenure.
This grisly event left him stunned. Hearing Lysander’s instructions, he quickly regained his composure,
trembling as he dialed for help, arranged for security to seal off the area, and checked on the injured.
“Mr. Sinclair, how are you feeling?” The manager asked Leopold, anxiously assessing his injuries.
With gritted teeth and bloodshot eyes, Leopold shook his head, “I’ll…I’ll be fine…”
After saying that, he looked towards Lysander who was standing not far away, the bottom of his
bloodshot eyes filled with a gloomy
aura.
Lysander, with one child in each arm, felt their little bodies clinging tightly to him. The children stayed
utterly still, their tense bodies clearly conveying their fear and panic.
