chapter721
Really?
He was just still enamored by her novelty.
When you truly love someone, shouldn’t you want to spend your whole life with them?
“Alright, enough jesting. The shipment of phones Leopold promised has been delivered. We at the
Crawley Group are planning to capitalize on this collaboration and get some publicity. We’re expecting
some journalists today. Thalassa, since you’re on duty, you’ll be the one to handle the interview. I want
you to communicate the advantages of the Crawley Group’s electronics to the world.”
Thalassa inquired curiously. “Wouldn’t Betty be a better fit?”
She had only been at the company for a few days and had taken quite a long break. She was not yet
well-versed in the Crawley Group’s corporate culture. Betty likely knew the ins and outs of the company
much better than she did.
It would be more reliable to have Betty represent the Crawley Group in the interview.
“Betty is accompanying me on a business trip today. I believe you can handle this, Thalassa. Good
luck.” Ethan gave Thalassa an encouraging smile and nod before exiting the office.
Betty passed by, also wishing her luck, before joining Ethan..
From the look on Betty’s face, she was thrilled. She’d much rather accompany Mr. Ethan on a business
trip than represent the Crawley Group in an interview. It was a rare opportunity to spend time alone with
Mr. Ethan.
So, the responsibility of handling the interview fell on Thalassa. She hastily turned on her computer and
began diligently researching the Crawley Group’s corporate culture, as well as the details of their
collaboration with Leopold and the advantages of their electronic products, in great detail.
Procrastination may be the thief of time, but last-minute preparations could sometimes save the day.
In the afternoon, Thalassa was busy memorizing the culture of the Crawley Group when someone
knocked on the door. Without raising her head, she said, “Come in.”
“Ms. Everhart, we’re journalists from Starhaven TV. We’ve scheduled an interview with you today.” A
woman’s voice echoed in her ear.
Thalassa quickly turned around. “Ah, yes, the interview today…”
Her words hung in the air as her gaze landed on the woman’s face. She was momentarily stunned.
The journalist was none other than Charlotte Ravensong.
It was Lysander’s fiancée, Charlotte.
“Ms. Everhart, you seem rather surprised to see me.” Charlotte’s smile was forced and insincere.
“We were supposed to interview Mr. Ethan, but he said you’d be handling it in his stead. So, shall we
begin the interview?” With that, Charlotte signaled the cameraman behind her to start recording.
Thalassa quickly composed herself and adopted a professional demeanor. She put aside all personal
issues with Charlotte and focused on the task at hand.
At first, Charlotte asked questions about the Crawley Group. Thalassa was able to answer smoothly.
She properly articulated the group’s strengths and shared the success story of their recent
collaboration with a start-up.

After asking a few questions about the Crawley Group, Charlotte suddenly asked, “Ms. Everhart, would
you say that nepotism exists within the Crawley Group? Is it common for people to get ahead due to
their connections?”
Thalassa maintained her composure and responded with a courteous smile. “The Crawley Group treats
all people fairly.”
“Really? It’s common knowledge that a bachelor’s degree is the minimum requirement for secretarial
jobs in our industry. However, as far as I know, you don’t seem to have a college degree, Ms. Everhart.”
Charlotte’s question seemed harmless on the surface, but her intent was clear,
Thalassa’s gaze hardened slightly. She could sense Charlotte’s underlying hostility, but she was adept
at handling such situations.
Her smile remained as she confidently responded. “You’re correct. I dropped out of college after my
sophomore year and don’t have a degree. However, my work ability is outstanding. The Crawley Group
is only the second company where I’ve held a secretarial position, the first being the Sinclair Group.
The industry values ability first and foremost, and credentials come second. A degree is just a piece of
paper. There are many people who have degrees but lack practical skills. Wouldn’t you agree, Ms.
Ravensong?”
With that rhetorical question, Thalassa effectively turned the tables on Charlotte, suggesting that she
might be one of those people who had degrees but
lacked skill.
Charlotte looked momentarily perturbed, but she quickly regained her composure and responded with a
smile, “Is that so? Being as attractive as you are is a skill in itself. Isn’t it, Ms. Everhart?”
