chapter710
Thalassa paused and glanced back to see the middle-aged man, who had just been groveling before
Lysander.
He was from the Brennan family.
She stood still, waiting for him to proceed.
Daniel also rose and strode over to Thalassa. He stopped a few feet from her. His demeanor was no
longer as subservient as it had been before Lysander. Now he acted arrogantly superior.
He seemed to look down on Thalassa.
“You are undoubtedly attractive enough to enchant men, but you don’t understand them. Men usually
play with women they wouldn’t marry.”
He was harsh.
Thalassa let out a small laugh, but her gaze remained cool and indifferent. “Mr. Brennan, perhaps you
should go home and reflect on your behavior. It would be a shame if you were taken away for some
mandatory introspection.”
With that, she walked away without giving him another glance.
She repeated Lysander’s earlier admonishment to Daniel.
Daniel’s arrogance faltered. It was now replaced by anger. In a rage, he watched as Thalassa
departed. His clenched fists at his sides also revealed his frustration.
If not for Lysander’s presence, he might have taught this woman a lesson.
His daughter, Faye, had been doing well as Lysander’s assistant and was close to winning his heart
until Thalassa showed up and disrupted everything.
Now, Lysander had even started to take action against the Brennan family.
All because of Thalassa.
Thalassa caught up to her friend. She was grateful to see that Hertha’s car was still parked where they
had left it. Thankfully, Hertha hadn’t stormed off.
Thalassa moved quickly to the vehicle, opening the door and sliding into the passenger seat.
Hertha’s hands were gripping the steering wheel tightly, and her fingers were trembling slightly. Her
usually jovial face was pouty, and her round eyes were filled with tears as she stared off into the
distance with her chest heaving uncontrollably.
She was clearly heartbroken.
Thalassa gently patted her shoulder. “Don’t be upset, Hertha. Alaric didn’t mean what he said.”
Hertha wiped away her tears and spoke as her breath became uncontrollably shaky. “Thalassa, you
were right from the start. Alaric, that playboy, has no heart. Love can’t touch him! I give up! There are
plenty of handsome men in the world, so why hang myself on one man?”
With that, she turned the key in the ignition, starting the car. Thalassa was taken aback by her friend’s
sudden decisiveness.
But rather than trying to stop her, she quickly buckled her seat belt and clutched the seat. “Hertha, drive
carefully.” She warned her.
“Don’t worry, I’m not going to do something reckless because of some guy. Besides, you have four kids
to take care of. If anything happened to you, I’d be to blame.” Hertha reassured her after noticing.
Thalassa’s white-knuckled grip on the seat.
That seemed like a more rational thought.
Thalassa relaxed a bit and occasionally glanced over at Hertha. She held the steering wheel steadily,
and her gaze was focused on the road ahead. Even her tears had dried up.
Now, she looked as if nothing had happened.
“Are you sure you’re okay?” Thalassa asked cautiously.
“What could be wrong? He’s just a guy. There are plenty of men in the world. Besides, nothing really
happened between us, so it’s not even a breakup.” Hertha brushed it off.
Thalassa couldn’t help but admire her friend’s nonchalance.
Hertha had taken it in stride, so any further consolation would seem unnecessary.
“Back to Royal Estates or Vibrant Oasis Residences?” Hertha asked as they reached a crossroads.
Vibrant Oasis Residences.” Thalassa replied,
Although she wanted to see her kids, she’d been at Royal Estates with them for over ten days and
neglected her duties to Evelyn.
