Chapter 960

chapter960

Five million was nothing to Leila. It was like blowing cash at karaoke on a Friday night. Her family's safe was always stuffed with bills anyway. She grabbed a suitcase, counted out the money, and headed out.

Before she left, she wrapped herself up from head to toe, careful not to leave a single clue for anyone to recognize her. Then she hopped into her car and followed the location the thug had texted her. The further she drove, the more deserted it got, and a weird sense of unease crept over her.

But then she reminded herself. For something like this, it had to be somewhere out of the way. Where else could they pull this off? The thought of Lydia stuck with those guys, waiting to be humiliated, actually made Leila feel a little thrill. Lydia. You totally brought this on yourself. Leila was determined to make her pay for her arrogance.

As she got closer to the address, she realized she hadn't seen a single person around. That made her even more nervous. She pulled out her phone and called the guy. "Where are you? I don't see anyone."

"Keep walking. There's an old warehouse up ahead. We're inside," he answered.

"How much farther?" she asked, still uneasy.

"Not far, just follow the path for a hundred meters. You'll see it. No one's gonna find us out here."

Leila nodded, even though he couldn't see her. Alright.

She picked up the suitcase with five million and walked another hundred meters down the path. Sure enough, there was an abandoned warehouse just like he said. All the tension in her chest suddenly let go.

She was just about to go in when she heard a familiar voice from inside. "Oh, she's awake? Hey guys, bring me my knife. I want to carve a little flower into that pretty face of hers!"

"You got it, boss!"

Hearing that, Leila's heart sped up with excitement. She hurried forward and shoved the door open. "Let me do it!"

But the second she stepped inside, she froze.

There were over a dozen men in black scattered across the floor, some sitting,

some lying down, all of them tied up tight, hands and feet bound.

Leila's mind just shut down. For a second, she wondered if she was seeing things. But when she looked again...

Lydia sat on a chair, looking

completely composed, a cold smile

on her lips as she stared at Leika.

"What's wrong? Don't believe your eyes?"

That's when Leila finally realized what was going on. She didn't even stop to think, just spun around and tried to run.

Suddenly, two men in black jumped out from either side and pinned her arms.

Connor stepped out of the shadows, his face hard and cold as he looked at Leila struggling. "The Fraga family, right?

Leila felt like she'd been struck by lightning. "Connor... Connor..."

She never thought Connor would be here. Suddenly, everything clicked.

"Lydia! You set me up! she screamed at Lydia, eyes burning with hate.

Lydia stood up, her laugh sharp and mocking. "Set you up? Weren't you the one who paid them to kidnap me?"

Leila glared at the thugs on the floor. "You took my money. How dare you turn on me and team up with her to trick me!"

The guy with the mohawk snorted.

"You told as this Miss Norwood was just a helpless eighteen-year-old

college girl. But the truth? She's

nothing like what you told us you Were trying to get us killed

What freaked them out even more was that Connor was here. Miss Norwood was

Connor's girlfriend. What had they gotten themselves into?

It was all because of the clueless Fraga woman. She'd dragged them all into this

mess.

Connor's voice was dangerously

calm. Ms. Fraga, since you're so

fond of making deals with these lowlifes, why don't you spend some time getting to know each other better?"
