Chapter 956

chapter956

Lydia stopped in her tracks and turned around, her lips curving into a subtle smile as she met Jackson's eyes. "Yes, sir? Is there something you need? Her voice was calm and confident.

Jackson smiled, looking friendly. "You seem familiar. Which department are you with?"

Everyone standing with Jackson went quiet, barely daring to breathe. They all thought Jackson was flirting. None of them realized he already knew who she was. This was Lydia. The same Lydia who had Connor completely smitten. The Norwood family's real daughter. William's niece. She definitely lived up to her reputation. No wonder Rosie had lost to her. Still, Jackson couldn't help but wonder why Lydia was here today and what her role was. He realized he'd underestimated her from the very beginning.

Lydia kept her polite smile. You must have me confused with someone else, sir. You have so much on your mind, it's easy to mix people up." She completely ignored his question about her position.

Jackson was about to dig deeper, but his aide, Harvey, leaned in and spoke softly. "Sir, we should head inside."

Jackson nodded, then turned back to Lydia. "Sorry to bother you."

Lydia nodded ever so slightly, then walked away. Jackson narrowed his eyes as he watched her leave, only turning to follow his group inside once she was gone.

Lydia got in her car, but instead of heading to the Norwood estate or Connor's place, she drove toward her own villa. Life had been hectic lately, and she hadn't even had a chance to check in on Luke since coming back from the border. She figured she'd take Luke along when she and Connor went out tomorrow.

But soon, she noticed something was off. Someone was following her. They thought they were being sneaky, but she'd spotted them right away. Lydia smirked coldly. She wondered which genius had sent these amateurs after her. Deciding to teach them a lesson, she turned off the main road and headed for a more deserted area.

She checked her mirrors and counted two SUVs, maybe ten guys in total. She switched up her speed, sometimes slowing down, sometimes speeding up, but both cars stuck close behind.

As she was driving, her phone buzzed. It was Connor. "Where are you? he asked.

"I left early. Picked up a few flies on my way out. I'm just leading them somewhere to take care of it."

Connor didn't hesitate. "I'll come to you."

P

"I've got it. Take care of your own stuff." Lydia ended the call. Even though Connor knew she could handle herself, it didn't stop him from worrying. Luckily, they'd set up tracking apps on their phones ages ago. Conner quickly checked her location, grabbed his team, and set out. He was determined to see who was stupid enough to go after her.

Meanwhile, Lydia kept driving farther away from the city's bright lights. In one of the cars tailing her, a guy glanced at the leader. "Chester,

where's this girl ever going net

You

think she's trying to lose us in the middle of nowhere?"

Another guy piped up. "Yeah, Chester, I think she knows we're behind her. Maybe she called the cops."

Chester rolled his eyes. "Don't be stupid. We haven't even done anything yet. What's she gonna tell the cops? She's just scared and running for it."

One of the guys looked out at the empty roads. "Honestly, boss, she doesn't look like someone to mess with."

Chester let out a frustrated sigh.

"What are

bet

you guys even good for?

She's just a young girl. There's ten of

us. Dont tell me we cant handle ong

girl

A younger guy scratched his head. It's our first time on a job like this with you, Chester. We'll do our best."

Chester just grunted. "When we catch up, block her off. Make sure you look tough. Watch how the guys in the back handle it. They're pros at this stuff.

"Yeah, yeah, of course."
