Chapter 885

chapter885

Yara, I can't believe you. You really disappointed me this time. Are you planning to end up like your mother?" Lewis's voice was sharp, the hurt in his eyes impossible

to ignore.

Yara stiffened as soon as she heard him mention her mom. She shot him a

desperate look and shook her head. "No, Grandpa. I swear, I'm not like her. I'll never be like my mother."

Nobody knew it, but Yara's mom had gotten pregnant with her before she even graduated high school. Barely anyone talked about it, but that secret haunted their family. Every time Lewis thought about it, it kept him awake at night, angry at himself for not raising his daughter right. He'd always hoped Yara would never let love ruin her life the way her mother had.

"Not like her? Then why are you on the forums, fanning rumors about you and Mr. Norwood?"

"That was... it was just the system glitching."

"A system glitch? Then how do you explain the poll?" Lewis called her bluff without hesitation.

Yara's face went pale. She bit her lip, voice trembling. Grandpa, I really do like him. I just wanted people to accept us. I wasn't trying to cause trouble."

"Foolish girl!" Lewis slammed his hand on the desk, his frustration boiling over.

"I'm not trying to be like Mom, really. I just... I don't want to let him slip away. He's amazing, Grandpa, and he goes to our school. I only wanted him to notice me." Yara's voice cracked, and she started to cry.

"I honestly don't know what happened with the forum. Something glitched, and suddenly everyone's real names were showing up. Grandpa, do you think someone's messing with me on purpose?"

"Maybe you should ask yourself who you've upset. Yara, I always thought you were smart and sensible, not like your mother. But after today, I'm really disappointed in you."

His daughter had let him down, so he'd pinned all his hopes on Yara. She'd always been the good kid, the one who made him proud with her grades and her manners But now out of nowhere, this scandakhad blown up, and he was left stunned.

"Grandpa, I'm not my mom. I only wanted to be friends with Mr. Norwood at first, nothing else. Didn't you always say how great he is? f there's even a chance he could like me back, shouldnt you be happy for me?"

Yara tried to plead her case, holding onto hope. If it was anyone else, she wouldn't have said those words, and Lewis never would've approved. But Garrett was special and Lewis never stopped praising him, which gave Yara the courage to try. She just hadn't thought the forum would leak real names and make her and her grandfather the joke of the school.

"If you care at all about your reputation or your future, you need to drop this, right now. Don't mention it again."

Lewis really did admire Garrett. He'd even thought about helping Yara meet him someday. But after the mess she'd caused, that was out of the question.

"Why, Grandpa? I fell for him the moment I saw him. I only want to be with him." Lewis felt a headache pounding behind his eyes. Before he could answer, someone knocked on his office door. He glanced at Yara, then called out, "Come in."

Kevin's assistant, Alan, stepped inside. "Vice President Johnson, President Moore would like to see you."

Lewis nodded. Thanks, Alan. I'll head over now."

As soon as Alan left, Yara's panic bubbled up again. Grandpa... please.....

She was terrified people would find out she was behind the whole thing. If they did, she'd never be able to show her face at Capital Med School again.

Lewis just gave her a look. "Now you're scared? Maybe you should've thought about the consequences before you acted."
