chapter858
Garrett glanced over and saw a woman with long hair in a light blue dress standing right beside him. Their eyes met, and for a moment, both of them were caught off guard. Garrett thought she looked familiar, but he couldn't quite remember where he'd seen her before.
Kylie, sitting next to Garrett, lit up with surprise. "Miss Davis?"
Because of the dim lighting, Violette had only just realized that it was Kylie sitting beside Garrett. She quickly greeted her with polite warmth. "Hello."
Violette's ticket had come from Juna, so she'd assumed Juna would be in the seat next to hers. She'd been searching the rows for Juna, but there was no sign of her. Juna had just texted to say she was here, so where was she now?
"Is this your seat? Come on, sit down," Kylie urged.
Violette felt a little awkward. She had recognized Garrett right away. He was the one, along with Lydia, who had saved her. Back then, she'd been out of it and hadn't seen his face clearly, but afterward, she'd looked him up online and learned he was a young, brilliant doctor. She'd tried to thank him at the Norwood house once, but he hadn't been there. She never expected to run into him here of all places.
Garrett cleared his throat, instinctively straightening in his seat. He tried to sound as gentlemanly as possible. "Miss Davis, please have a seat."
Violette nodded, her voice gentle. "Thank you."
Lucinda rolled her eyes so hard she could practically see her brain. Violette was so fake, always playing the sweet, helpless type. Lucinda couldn't stand it. This had to be Lydia's handiwork. Every time, anyone Lydia knew ended up sitting right next to Blake or Garrett. What were the odds?
An idea popped into Lucinda's head. If she could get Leila to become Elliot's girlfriend, maybe she'd finally have the upper hand. The more she thought about it, the more it made sense. And then there was Paige, who'd obviously had a thing for Blake in the beginning. If her brothers married her friends, it would only work out in her favor. On the other hand, if her brothers ended up with Lydia's friends, would there be any space left for her in the Norwood family? She couldn't believe how clueless she'd been before. If only she'd introduced her friends to her brothers sooner, maybe they wouldn't have fallen for Lydia so fast and left her in the cold.
The venue was getting crowded. People were waving glow sticks and holding up fan signs, the atmosphere electric.
Kylie kept glancing at her phone, getting more and more impatient "Why is
time moving so slowe
There's still half an hour before the
concert starts."
Cameron leaned in from the other side of Lucinda, grinning. That's what happens when you show up early."
Lucinda, meanwhile, was dying to go backstage. If she could, she'd jump at the chance to perform with Elliot. She used to look down on anyone in the entertainment industry,
convinced they were just attention seekers Now things had changed, She was just a fake heiress in the Norwood family, and she needed to make a name for herself.
seekers Now things had charged
But Elliot only ever gave special treatment to Lydia, letting her go on stage. It just wasn't fair.
Not long after, Juna, Connor, and Luke walked out from backstage Connor had a hat pulled down low and a mask covering his face, dressed head to toe in black tying not to attract attention.
The front rows were filled with rich kids who recognized him instantly. Whispers started to ripple through the crowd.
"Isn't that the Jefferson family's eldest son? Why's he with Juna? Shouldn't he be with Lucinda?"
"That's weird. Do you think he's moved on?"
"We're probably reading too much into it. Look, he's heading toward the Norwood family. Lucinda's sitting right there."
"Or maybe it's just a coincidence."
"Yeah, and the Norwoods and Davises are close. Plus, the whole Norwood family is here tonight. Connor wouldn't do anything crazy in public, would he?"
Lucinda watched Connor, her eyes full of longing and frustration. No matter how impressive other guys were, no one could take Connor's place in her heart.
