chapter793
"Let me introduce someone important," Cameron said, his voice full of pride. "This is our daughter, Lydia."
Benjamin stood there, stunned and speechless. He couldn't even get a single word out.
Mabel just rolled her eyes. "Stop being an eyesore there. Go check in at the police station."
That's when it finally clicked for Benjamin. The reason their plan fell apart was simple. They had never really figure Lydia out at all.
Once Benjamin was gone, everyone returned to the main hall. Suddenly, Mr. Robinson's excited voice rang out. "Wait, is this... Is this an painting by Owen?
Mrs. Robinson's face lit up. "It is! And it's a brand new piece. Look, the date says it was painted just yesterday. That's incredible!"
William walked in and asked, "Is this really a painting by Owen?"
Mrs. Robinson nodded, looking thrilled. "Yes. Your dad's been obsessed with Owen's work these past few years, but Owen is so mysterious. They almost never appear in public, and it's impossible to get them to take commissions. I can't believe Kylie and Cameron brought not one, but two of their paintings today."
Kylie and Cameron looked at each other, confused. "We didn't bring any paintings by Owen."
Everyone immediately turned to look at Blake and Elliot.
They both shook their heads. "Not us."
Owen's paintings definitely weren't in their stack of gifts either.
So now, every eye in the room landed on Lydia.
Lydia stayed calm and said, Grandpa, I'm glad you like them."
Mr. Robinson looked surprised. Lydia, do you know Owen?"
Lydia blinked. "Well... Connor knows them. Yesterday, I asked Connor to take me to visit."
Kylie and Cameron thought back and realized Lydia really had been with Connor all day. They felt a wave of pride and affection at how considerate she was.
"One's called 'Waterfall on a Clouded Cliff,' and the other is 'Cranes.' You can tell Owen painted them. They're so lively, it's like the scenes could come to life at any second," William said, admiring the artwork.
Mr. Robinson laughed and carefully put the paintings away. "These are precious gifts from Lydia. I absolutely love them."
Lydia hadn't just brought gifts for her grandparents. She'd prepared something for everyone in the Robinson family. For her
grandmother, she'd picked out
bracelet, a white hairpin, and a dress from the LVLX.collection gifts that made Mrs. Robinson so happy she couldn't stop smiling.
For William, there was a tie and a watch, both from LYLX as well.
When it came to Mabel, Lydia gave came to her a set of exclusive skincare products she'd developed herself. Mabel was over the moon. After all, Lydia was a doctor, so anything she created was bound to be amazing. What woman doesn't love great skincare? Mabel absolutely adored the present.
Nathaniel was craning his neck, trying to peer past everyone else. His voice was a little sulky. "Hey, Lydia, do I get a gift too?"
Lydia smiled. "Of course."
She opened two gift boxes, revealing an elegant suit and a bottle of luxury cologne.
Nathaniel eyed the gifts, looking a bit uncertain. He wasn't sure those were really his style.
Mabel was instantly excited. "Lydia, I think this boy needs a makeover.
He's always running around in who knows what. He should try lking a little more polished ap gentlemanly. Otherwise, how's he ever going to find a girlfriend?"
"Mom, you're totally underestimating me," Nathaniel protested.
Lydia reached back into her bag and pulled out a small booklet, handing it over. "I figured you'd like this."
Nathaniel's eyes lit up the second he saw the cover.
"No way. A racing playbook!"
Everyone else looked confused.
Nathaniel clutched the booklet to his chest and cheered, "This is perfect! With this,
our team is definitely going to beat Chris's crew!"
