Chapter 741

chapter741

Kylie knew Lydia had been running on empty lately, so she made sure no one bothered her. After a quick shower, Lydia finally grabbed her phone and saw a bunch of messages from Connor waiting for her.

[Are you awake yet?]

[Still in bed? I'll come get you at ten. Grandpa wants to take you out for lunch.]

[If you say no, he might actually break my legs. He's that serious.]

Lydia couldn't help but smile as she slipped her phone into her pocket and headed downstairs. She hadn't even made it to the bottom step when she heard voices drifting up from the living room.

"We should have come by to thank you sooner, but Violette really wanted to be here with us, so we waited for her to recover. I hope you don't mind," a woman's clear, graceful voice said, full of gratitude.

Kylie smiled warmly. "Of course not. The only thing that matters is that Miss Davis is okay. You didn't need to make a special trip, really."

"Is Lydia not home?" Violette asked, looking lovely in a white dress.

Kylie paused, about to answer, but then Lydia's voice floated down from the stairs. "I'm here."

Violette turned, just in time to see Lydia coming down, looking as cool and confident as always. Anthony and his wife Avery turned as well. They'd met Lydia once before, but even now, they were struck by the way she seemed to light up the room.

"Lydia!" Violette practically ran over, her excitement bubbling over. "Thank you for saving me."

Lydia smiled, easy and genuine. "You don't have to thank me. It wasn't all me."

Anthony stepped forward too. "Miss Norwood, we actually had another reason for coming today."

Lydia met his gaze. "What is it?"

"The investigation into the Gibson family's kidnapping has started in full. Jackson is under investigation as well.wanted to let you know that even if Jackson tries to vauch for the Gibsons, our department will handle everything by the book. We'll make sure you get justice."

When Anthony found out the Gibsons had tried to kidnap the person who'd saved his family, he didn't hesitate to blacklist them, Not that the two families had ever been close anyway. Today, he was making it clear where he stood.

Cameron and Kylie were both touched by his support. They wanted to invite the three visitors to stay for lunch, but Anthony apologized, saying he was swamped with work and would visit again soon.

Before they left, Violette shamelessly asked Lydia for her number, insisting they meet up for a meal sometime. As for Lucinda, the Davis family barely spared her a glance, which only made her simmer with resentment.

Lydia kept insisting she didn't want her identity made public, but honestly, everyone important already knew she was the real Norwood heiress. Lucinda couldn't stand it. She thought Lydia was the biggest hypocrite.

Just as the Davis family guests left, a sleek black luxury car pulled up outside the gate. The butler spotted the person getting out and froze in shock, almost thinking he was seeing things.

"This... this can't be..." he stammered, then rushed off to the main house to report.

"Mr. Norwood! Mrs. Norwood!"

Cameron and Kylie had just gotten back inside when they heard the butler hurrying after them. Kylie looked over, a bit confused. Ryan, what's going on?"

Madam, you should come out to the gate right away, Ryan said, his expression a mix of excitement and nerves.

Kylie and Cameron hurried outside. When they reached the driveway, they saw a large group of people walking up from the main gate. Kylie stoppet in her tracks, staring at the man at the front of the group For a second, she couldn't believe her eyes.

She whispered, almost to herself, "William?"
