chapter674
Connor raised an eyebrow. "What are you talking about?"
Who would even try to steal his fianc e? Were they insane?
Grandpa Samuel let out a grumble. "How could you be so clueless? Lydia's school forum has gone wild. All those young punks keep shouting about asking her out. It's all over the place.
He kept going. "You're not as young as they are, you don't know how to flirt like they do, and you're not even at her school. And you're still sitting there asking me what this means?"
Connor just fell silent.
Grandpa Samuel pressed on. You better pay more attention to Lydia. School's started, but you can't just relax now. Send her gifts. Check in on her. The cafeteria food probably tastes awful, so bring her something she actually likes. Don't even think about letting my future granddaughter-in-law slip away."
Honestly, Grandpa Samuel just wanted to see how Lydia's first day was going. He never expected to stumble onto a campus beauty contest with a bunch of boys plotting to chase after his grandson's fianc e. No wonder he was anxious.
"I'll go check," Connor said.
Without another word, he hung up and pulled up Capital Med School's forum.
It didn't take long for him to spot the photo of Lydia, absolutely stunning, her whole vibe lighting up the screen.
She really was gorgeous. The picture was from earlier, when he picked her up. She had just come out of her dorm, looking for his car. The way she turned her head..... even he was taken aback.
He remembered thinking, in that exact moment, that she could make anyone fall for her with just one smile.
He never realized someone else had snapped a photo and posted it online.
He scrolled through the comments, his mood sinking lower and lower.
[Ahhh, she's so beautiful. She's the girl of my dreams.]
[I'm ready to be her number one fan. Who's with me?]
[Me, count me in! Maybe we'll get lucky.]
[I want to date her too. Anyone else up for it?]
Connor's face got darker the more he read.
Every single comment was from someone eager to steal her away.
He'd told himself to be ready for this before Lydia started school, but seeing all
these guys lining up to chase his fianc e... it felt like someone was sticking needles in his chest.
He couldn't do anything about the age gap. That just made it worse.
By three in the afternoon, once everyone had woken up from their naps, the school forum blew up again.
"What's going on?" Monica sat up in bed, rubbing her eyes, thinking ske was still half asleep. She blinked,
stared at the screen, and realized and realized she wasn't dreaming. The campus queen poll thread had changed.
"What happened? Where's Lydia?" Fiona's voice was full of shock.
Daisy grabbed her phone too. When she saw Yara in first place, Rosie in second, and herself in third, she paused, then grinned with barely-hidden satisfaction.
"Did the system mess up? Why are there only three people now?" she said, her tone dripping with fake innocence.
Monica and Fiona were totally stunned. They'd never seen anything like this.
"Maybe it's a glitch? But out of four people, how come Lydia's the only one missing?"
"Yeah, and all the comments about her are gone too. Seriously, not even one left." "Everyone's confused!"
"Oh wow, people are saying... Yara did something. Is that true?"
Monica and Fiona kept whispering in disbelief.
'n
Daisy's lips curved into a sly smile. "Well, you never know. Yara is the vice principal's granddaughter. Last year, she was campus queen as soon as she arrived. Now she suddenly gets bumped down? Of course she'd be upset Wait, am saying too much? Monica, ona, just ignore me, okay? I don't have any proof, so let's not jump to conclusions."
Monica and Fiona glanced at Lydia, who was sitting quietly with her phone. They thought she must be taking it hard, so they leaned in and asked in gentle voices Lydia are. you... okay?"
