chapter571
"Lincoln!"
Mr. Lowe hurried over, leaning on his fancy cane, trying to figure out what in the world was going on.
It was blazing hot, the kind of summer heat that sticks to your skin. Lincoln, still dressed in his suit, was sweating through every layer and looked about ready to pass out. But he kept going, push-up after push-up, counting under his breath. He still had twenty more to go.
"Lincoln! What are you doing? Did something happen?" Mr. Lowe just couldn't wrap his head around it.
Wasn't he embarrassed at all?
Grandpa, I'm just... working out, Lincoln managed to say, barely catching his breath.
"Eighty-two... eighty-three..."
Mr. Lowe lost his patience. "Working out? Here? Get up right now!" He tapped Lincoln with his cane, not too gently, right on the backside. Lincoln, already dead tired, collapsed flat on the ground. He almost busted his front teeth.
Grandpa, are you trying to kill me?" Lincoln actually sounded like he was about to cry.
Then get up. If something's bothering you, we'll talk about it at home." Mr. Lowe bent down to help him, but Lincoln shook his head.
"No, I've got seventeen left... Almost done..."
Mr. Lowe could only stare at him, speechless.
By now, Juna, Mason, Cameron, Kylie, and Lucinda had all wandered outside to see what the commotion was. They gathered around, curiosity all over their faces.
Who does push-ups in front of the house like this? It was definitely not normal. "Wow, Lincoln, what happened to you?" Juna grinned, teasing him.
Cameron glanced at Mr. Lowe. "Mr. Lowe, is Lincoln alright?"
Mr. Lowe could barely look anyone in the eye. He coughed awkwardly. "He... says he's exercising."
"Oh." Cameron quickly dropped it, not wanting to make things worse. "We'll head back then. We'll come visit you again soon."
"Say hi to your father for me."
"Will do."
Lincoln kept going, sneaking glances at Lucinda. He wanted to ask her about her fianc , Connor. Why was he with Lydia? What was going on?
But Lincoln was so wiped out that talking was impossible. He could only watch as Lucinda walked off with Cameron and Kylie.
Juna, arms crossed, stood by his side with an amused smirk, waiting for him to finish.
"Ninety-nine... one hundred..."
Lincoln flopped onto the ground, gasping for air like he'd just marathon. He looked more extrausted puppy than
exausted puppy than a Tet
Juna couldn't help it-she burst out laughing.
Mr. Lowe shook his head, looking mortified. You little brat! If you're finished, get up now!"
Still panting, Lincoln managed to push himself up and turned to Mr Low Grandpa you ge
first
Grandpa, you get in the ear,
need to talk to Miss Davis for a minute."
Mr. Lowe shot him a glare but went to wait in the car.
Lincoln wasted no time. He pulled Juna aside and whispered, You know what's going on, don't you? Whys Lydia with Connor? What aren't you telling me?"
Juna gave him a smug look. Why don't you just ask her yourself? How should I know?"
Lincoln groaned. "Come on, don't mess with me. I know you know. Please, just tell me!"
He was desperate now. If he didn't get the answer, he'd lose sleep over it.
Juna held out her palm, grinning. If he wanted answers, he'd have to pay.
Lincoln patted his pockets, then reluctantly slipped off his limited-edition watch and handed it over.
"It cost over five million. I just bought it."
Juna grinned, turning the watch over in her hand. Lincoln pressed, "Alright, now will you tell me? Who cheated on who?"
