chapter560
Lydia couldn't help but laugh, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "You said it yourself, that was when I was a kid. If I remember right, back then my grandmother still had a lot of say at the company. Your Lane family needed her help, so you'd come by and visit her. But after she retired, you barely ever showed your faces again, did you?"
The words hit Clark and Vivia hard, their faces turning a shade that was almost comical.
They never thought Lydia would remember all that. And so clearly, too.
"But, but we..."
Lydia cut them off. "Save it. The truth is, you didn't raise your son right. Today, we did you a favor and taught him a lesson for free. You should be thanking us."
That nearly made the two of them choke with anger.
Juna was just as done with the conversation. If you don't get moving, you might not even find your son."
Only then did Clark and Vivia realize Soren was already being carried out by two bodyguards.
In a split second, they rushed out after him, wailing and fussing. Just before leaving, they shot Lydia a nasty glare, making it obvious they were blaming her for everything that happened today.
They still weren't sure if Juna's words had been the truth. If Lydia really was Juna's boss, what could they even do about it?
Everyone watched as Soren was carried out by the Davis family's bodyguards. The Lane family had never been so humiliated.
But now, everyone's curiosity was piqued. Who exactly was this Lydia, that Miss Davis would go so far to protect her?
So once the Lane family was out of the picture, someone decided to step up and ask Juna about Lydia.
"Miss Davis, I don't think I've ever seen this Miss Norwood with you before. Which family is she from? Mind introducing us?"
It was a rich young guy, wearing some limited-edition designer suit. He looked laid- back, smiling with that lazy confidence, and he was about the same age as Lydia and Juna.
Juna glanced at him with a smirk. You want to know, Lincoln?"
Lincoln grinned, his tone cocky. "Of course." Even as he spoke, he kept sneaking glances at Lydia.
He'd been watching Lydia for a while now. He'd seen plenty of rich guys try the luck and get turned down. He also seen Lydia and Juna put the Lane family in their place.
He was definitely interested in Lydia.
She was gorgeous, had this cool, distant vibe, and most importantly, she had attitude.
And honestly, that was exactly his type.
If it had been someone else, Juna probably would've told them to get lost or called
them out for aiming way too high.
But Lincoln was different. He
belonged to one of the most elite families in the Capital Sure he could be a bit of a troublemaker, but Juna still had to show him some respect.
"Sorry to disappoint you, but my friend here already has a fianc ." Lincoln raised an eyebrow. "You mean that loser from earlier?"
Juna snorted. "He wishes."
Lincoln clicked his tongue, looking full of himself. Then I really don't get it. Is her fianc actually better than me?"
Lincoln honestly believed he was the most sought after bachelor among all the Capital's socialites. Even the moms loved him. As far as ideal sons-in-law went, if he said he was number two, nobody would claim first place.
Lydia shot him a look that was pure disdain.
Lincoln only seemed more excited. That was exactly what he liked her unbothered, rebellious attitude.
Juna rolled her eyes at him. "Her fianc is at least a hundred times better than you." Connor was pratically a king in the Capital.
