chapter552
When Lydia finished speaking, Lucinda felt all the tension leave her body. Relief washed over her. At least she didn't have to worry about anyone finding out she wasn't the real heiress.
Cameron and Kylie were dying to show off their beloved daughter at the charity gala, but since Lydia said she wasn't ready, they had no choice but to go along with her wishes.
The next evening came in a flash.
Lucinda clearly loved pale yellow. She wore a soft yellow princess dress with a full skirt, looking every inch the little princess-adorable, beautiful, and full of energy.
Grace couldn't help but gush over her precious girl again.
"Lucinda, you look amazing. That dress is just made for you."
Looking at Lucinda's sweet and pretty face, Grace saw so much of her younger self. The resemblance was almost startling.
Sometimes, she just wanted to take out old photos of herself to show Lucinda, but it wasn't time yet. She would wait a bit longer. When the right moment came, she'd tell Lucinda the truth. She'd let her know that her own background was just as impressive as Lydia's.
That afternoon, Lydia said she was going to the gala with a friend, so she wasn't home. Cameron and Kylie took Lucinda with them as they left the Norwood house.
Tonight's charity event was hosted by the Sunrise Foundation, one of the most well- known organizations in the Capital. It was founded by the Davis family. Juna's grandfather, Nash, was the one who started it all. That's why Lydia was attending the gala with Juna.
Sandy also showed up that night, coming with Jenson and Milana. Sandy's main reason for coming was Soren, while Jenson and Milana were chasing a rumor that the mysterious Miss might make an appearance. They figured it was worth a shot, since meeting her
could mean big things for their company. Even if they didn't run into Miss L, maybe they could find another investor.
Sandy had really gone all out with her look. She wore a deep red evening gown and a gorgeous set of jewelry she'd borrowed from Milana. The jewels brought her whole look up a notch. Thankfully, Milana had saved at least one fancy set or Sandy would have been too
embarrassed to show her face at an event like this.
Before the gala officially began, guests had some free time to mingle. People came from all sorts of backgrounds, so this was their chance to meet, chat and make connections There were also display areas set up, showing off the charity's projects and sharing stories of the people they'd helped, so everyone could really see what the fundraising was all about.
This was Sandy's first time at an event like this. She'd learned a lot since coming back to the Smith family, but seeing the donor wall in the display area was a whole new shock. She spotted a few familiar names.
Cameron Norwood, the Capital's richest man, had donated more than a hundred billion to the foundation. The number was mind-blowing. He really was in a league of his own, even when it came to giving money away.
She also saw Miss L from LYLX. She had donated more than fifty billion through the Sunrise Charity Foundation, and LYLX itself had taken part in all kinds of projects.
But when Sandy looked for the Lane family or even her own Smith family, their names were nowhere to be found.
It just didn't seem real. How could some people be so wealthy? Wasn't the Smith family supposed to be the richest in Lakeview Town? Yet here, they didn't even come close. Not even a little bit.
The more Sandy thought about it, the more unfair it felt. If she could marry into one of those families on the donor list, her life would be set forever.
