chapter529
"Yes, ma'am. I'll get started right away."
Wendy nodded, trying hard not to cry. Milana's voice cut through the air again. "Where are those idiots?"
"They're all waiting in the reception room. Mr. Brooks is with them now."
Milana scoffed. What a bunch of losers. Give them money and send them packing.
And let them know, Smith Corporation will never work with them again.
The people who showed up that day were a real mix. Some had broken their contracts first. Others were demanding compensation because Smith Corporation couldn't deliver. It was a mess.
Jenson called in the finance and legal teams to witness everything.
The CFO started crunching the numbers, but the more he calculated, the more anxious he looked.
"Mr. Smith, with everyone who's registered, we're going to need at least forty million. We don't have enough."
Milana's eyes nearly popped out. "That's still not enough?"
The CFO nodded. Ma'am, you can check the numbers yourself."
Jenson turned to Sandy. Milana did too.
Sandy felt their eyes on her and got defensive. "Why are you both staring at me?"
"We gave you thirty million before. Now we need you to come up with twenty million," Jenson said.
Cash was what they needed most, and Sandy definitely had it.
She couldn't believe they were after her money again. She shook her head. "I transferred it into a fixed deposit. I can't take it out right now."
"Sandy! Watch your attitude! If you want a share of this company, you'd better hand over the money. Otherwise, don't even think about getting a single cent from us," Milana snapped, practically trembling with anger.
Sandy gritted her teeth. The company indeed was worth even more.
"Sandy, you can see how bad things are. If you want half of the company's assets, then you need to step up now. Otherwise, when the time comes for you to inherit, no one will help you." Jenson tried toreason with her.
Sandy hesitated. Jenson had a point. She finally gave in a little. "Fine. I'll give you twenty million, but only if Mom gives me one of her jewelry sets. Otherwise, forget
it."
Milana looked like she was about to explode.
Jenson thought it over. The jewelry was useless if they didn't turn it into cash, and Milana had more than enough. Giving up one set wouldn't kill her.
"Alright. I'll promise for your mother."
"Jenson!" Milana yelled.
"We need to pay these people off so I can go talk to LYLX about investing. Or do you want to sit back and watch the company go bankrupt?" Jenson shot Milana a look.
Milana felt like Sandy was going to give her a heart attack, but she could only nod. "Fine."
Sandy knew exactly how valuable Milana's jewelry was, so she wasn't worried about her going back on her word.
With Sandy's twenty million, plus what Jenson could scrape together, they finally managed to settle up with everyone causing trouble.
Lydia got the news just as she and Connor landed back in the city.
Juna's laughter was loud in her ear.
"Babe, you have no idea. Your
adoptive parents are probably so mad they're about to burst a blood vessen Twenty million isn't going to fix much so what's your next move?"
Lydia thought for a moment. My dear adoptive mother still has plenty of treasures
left. I'll let her make a few more trips to the pawnshop before I step in.
Juna whistled. If they ever find out you own that pawnshop, do you think they'll be so mad they'll jump off a building?"
