chapter373
It looked like they'd brought a whole crew with them.
Connor narrowed his eyes. "And they're packing military-grade weapons."
Lydia's expression went cold. "They're seriously asking for it."
"Let them come. I was almost worried they wouldn't," Connor replied, a vicious little smile tugging at his lips.
His girl had risked everything to treat their boss' family. You'd think they'd be grateful. Instead, they decided to stab her in the back?
If they wanted to throw themselves into the fire, Connor was more than happy to help light the match.
As night fell, the Black Eagle compound was blazing with lights. The women, children, and elderly had already gotten the antidote and been moved somewhere safe.
Night Eagle sat in the main hall, anxiously waiting for updates, when suddenly a massive explosion shook the entire building, rattling the floors.
His heart skipped a beat. This was bad.
Inside, chaos broke out. Lydia herself led the Lydora crew, storming right into the compound. She brought back all the gasoline and explosives Black Eagle had secretly sent to Mount Gemspire earlier that day. Every last bit.
"Night Eagle! You heartless bastard! Get your ass out here!" Hunter shouted.
Hunter had always hated Black Eagle. The second he found out they'd tried to set fire to the mountain and put Lydia in danger, all he wanted was to snap Night Eagle's neck with his bare hands.
Night Eagle's plan was simple: sneak his people up the mountain, start a fire under cover of darkness, and wipe everyone out.
But he'd completely underestimated Lydia and Connor. Did he really think hiding his men among the medicine buyers would fool them? That was just stupid.
"Hunter, check how many are still here," Lydia called out.
Back when Scar came up the mountain saying his boss' mother was sick, Lydia and Connor had already sensed something was off With Black Eagle. Alittle digging and they found out Black Eagle knew Lydia was the leader of Lydora.
The grudge between the two gangs went way back, with years of bad blood. As
soon as Lydia and Connor found out about Night Eagle's plot, they started planning their counterattack.
On it, Lydia, Hunter answered.
Night Eagle wasn't dumb. He had backup plans ready. As soon as he heard the chaos outside, he slipped into a secret room to make his escaper By the time Hunter and mis crew caught up, Night Eagle's helicopter was already just a speck in the sky.
"Damn it, the bastard got away," Hunter spat.
Lydia and Connor returned to the building where Night Eagle's mother had stayed. It was totally deserted.
Lydia, looks like they all used a secret tunnel to get out," Potato and Sweet Potato reported when they got back. "And they left all the infected people behind."
Lydia thought for a moment. "Black
Eagle's reach goes way past the Triangle. This is just one of their bases. Kicking them out of here isn't a bad thing Lydora won't have to deal with so much crap anymore.
With Black Eagle around, they always threw their weight around, bullying the other gangs, especially Lydora. Now that Night Eagle had run off, life might actually get easier for everyone.
"This compound could be really useful," Lydia said, glancing around. But it needs a serious makeover first."
Potato and Sweet Potato's eyes lit up. So we've got a project to work on?"
Lydia nodded. "Yeah. And that secret passage? Blow it up."
That was exactly what they'd been hoping to hear. If they didn't destroy that tunnel,
who knew when Black Eagle might try to sneak back in and start trouble again.
Let's check out Night Eagle's place, Lydia said, looking over at Connor.
He nodded. "Let's go."
