chapter370
His girl had more than enough on her plate. She was busy, exhausted, and now these guys were here to make things even worse.
"Yes, yes, we're leaving, we're leaving."
Scar looked like he wanted to argue but he wasn't dumb enough to mess with Connor on his own turf. He gathered his people and hurried out.
Damien kept his head down, barely even breathing.
It was obvious Connor got blueballed. Why did Black Eagle have to stir up trouble and drag him into it too?
Connor was sick of Black Eagle's nonsense.
"Lydia, once you finish making the cure, we're heading back to the Capital."
The Triangle was full of predators. With someone as valuable as Lydia around, it was just asking for trouble. Black Eagle showing up today only proved his point. He didn't believe for a second they were here just because of the old lady's illness.
Lydia didn't want to stick around either. She nodded. "Okay."
After grabbing a quick bite, Lydia and Connor led their team up into the mountains, picking a truckload of herbs, including the rare Vision Rejuvenation Grass. When they got back, Lydia dove straight into her lab.
Meanwhile, Scar's failed mission put Night Eagle in a foul mood.
"Boss, Connor was there. There was nothing we could do. But the lady promised she'd have the cure done within three days."
Standing next to Night Eagle was a man in a black mask. He let out a cold laugh, "Connor's nothing. He was just lucky not to get killed in Southeast Asia three years ago."
Scar frowned. This masked guy had kept to himself since showing up three years ago. Why was he suddenly getting involved? And why did he hate Connor so much?
Night Eagle waved Scar away. "You're dismissed."
"Yes, sir."
"I know you've got a grudge against Connor, but we need that woman to finish the cure. Don't do anything stupid," Night Eagle warned the masked man.
The masked man gave a chilling grin. "If Connor ever finds out what you Black Eagle people have been up to, you'll be done for too."
Night Eagle didn't answer.
Right then, another subordinate burst in. Night Eagle, we found it.
He handed over a file. Night Eagle's eyes widened as he read.
The masked man leaned in for a look and suddenly started laughing. "So that's why she was so eager to help the old lady. She's actually the mysterious leader of Lydera. She's been here spying on you the whole time."
Night Eagle was stunned. His hand clenched around the file, crushing it into a ball.
Lydora's leader? Seriously?
She'd been playing him all along.
The masked man kept pushing. "Come on, this is a golden opportunity. You can't let it slip by."
Night Eagle glared at him, his eyes turning cold.
"She already knows everything about
your operation. Instead of waiting for her to make a move, why don't
we strike first? If you take out Lydora and Connor at the same time, Black Eagle is guaranteed to be number one."
"You'd really go after Connor?" Night Eagle's fist tightened.
The masked man sneered. "Lydora's leader is sharing a bed with Connor. You're enemies with Lydora. Do you realy think Connor would let you off the hook?"
Night Eagle stayed silent.
The masked man added, Connor doesn't have many people with him right now. If
Black Eagle makes a move, who knows who'll come out on top?
Night Eagle's eyes narrowed, his expression impossible to read.
Lydia worked in the lab late into the night, finally finishing all the medicine.
"Take this to Lydora," she told Potato, handing him a vial. And tell them I'm fine."
