chapter285
Weren't they the ones who started comparing in the first place? If they really treated her and Lydia the same, wouldn't they have given her exactly what they gave Lydia?
Lucinda kept all this to herself. She knew everyone had already chosen sides. What was the point of speaking up? It would only make her seem petty and overly sensitive.
"I understand. I'll be more mindful from now on."
Garrett gave her shoulder a gentle pat and spoke with warmth. Lucinda, you've always been thoughtful and kind. I know you won't let me down."
On the other side of town, Connor pulled up to the Jefferson house.
Mr. Jefferson had been anxiously waiting for him all night. As soon as Connor walked in, he called out, "What took you so long? Did you have dinner yet?" He was fishing, just so he could know if Connor had stayed for dinner at the Norwoods.
Connor shot him a look as he headed into the living room. "You already know, don't you?"
Mr. Jefferson had no idea that Aiden's secret photo had found its way onto Connor's phone. He put on an innocent act. "Know what? If I knew, why would I ask?"
Connor didn't bother with small talk. He held up his phone and showed him the photo.
Mr. Jefferson froze, his mouth falling open in surprise. What was happening? Had that rascal Aiden been caught? How else would Connor have that photo?
He stammered, "This... this picture, who took it? It's beautiful. Look at our Lydia, she's stunning, isn't she?"
Connor just stared at him, unimpressed.
"Come on, Grandpa, drop the act. Aiden sent you this picture. I just want to know, who did you send it to?" Connor's tone was calm, but he wasn't letting it go.
Mr. Jefferson looked embarrassed, his face turning red. "I... I only sent it to Carson.
I didn't show anyone else, I swear." He started to realize something strange was
going on as Connor kept staring at him.
Connor raised his eyebrows.
Carson? As in, the president of

know him. Connor couldn't help but feel Lydia was full of surprises.
Mr. Jefferson saw the look on his grandson's face and couldn't help asking, Why
are you asking? Did he send the picture to someone else?"
Connor just smirked. "You figure it out. I'm going upstairs."
Mr. Jefferson was left sitting there, lost in thought. He needed to call Carson and get this sorted out.
Connor had barely closed his bedroom door when his phone rang. It was Aiden.
"What's up?"
"Boss, Miracle Hands agreed to
meet at the Royal Court Hotel. Should Igo early and check things out? Just in case it's a setup." Aiden's voice was cautious. The fact that Miracle Hands wasnt asking for any payment made him suspicious. His boss was too important to risk it. So many people had tried and failed to find Miracle Hands. Why would it be so easy for them?
Connor narrowed his eyes and gave a low chuckle. "Royal Court is my turf. Would I
be afaird to show up there?"
Aiden went quiet for a second. He was just trying to be careful.
"Tomorrow night, eight o'clock. Don't be late."
"Yes, Boss."
Meanwhile, Lydia had just finished replying to Chris' message when her phone rang again. It was Juna.
"Lyds, they've confirmed the meeting. Tomorrow night, eight o'clock, Royal Court Hotel."
"Got it," Lydia said.
Juna let out a slow breath. "Lyds, you know who the client is, don't
