Chapter 140

chapter140

Lydia was in front of him before he even realized she'd moved. One sharp kick and he was airborne, crashing to the ground with a groan.

She strolled over, calm as ever, and set her foot right on his chest, pressing down hard.

"Agh! I'm sorry, I'm sorry! Please, have mercy!" he gasped, flailing under her weight.

If he hadn't just lived through it, Jimmy would never have believed a girl her size could hit like that. Was Lydia even human? There was no way.

"Who sent you?" Lydia's voice was cool and even.

Jimmy glared at her, trying to keep his pride, but every breath hurt. It felt like his body was falling apart.

Lydia let out a cold snort. "I'm only asking once. If you don't answer, or if you lie, I'll make sure you lose your penis forever."

Looking up into her blank, unblinking eyes, Jimmy's heart almost leapt out of his chest. She wasn't joking. This girl was trouble. She'd taken down more than twenty men in minutes. He'd never seen anything like it.

"So? Are you going to talk?" Lydia raised her eyebrow, waiting.

Jimmy's courage vanished. If he held out any longer, he'd be ruined. He hadn't even had kids yet. Okay, okay, I'll talk! It was Parker! He sent us. He told us to grab you and bring you to him."

Lydia's eyes narrowed, just a hint of a smirk on her lips.

Of course it was Parker. He failed to get his son out today, and gotnowhere with her mom. She's wondering why he hadn't even gone to the office. He must have spent the whole day figuring out how to deal with her instead.

"We're just debt collectors," Jimmy pleaded, his voice shaking. "We only know a little self-defense. We were just trying to scare you, that's all. We had no clue you'd be this strong Please, let us go.

Lydia scoffed. Scare me? If it were any other girl tonight, who knows what you would have done. You made your choice, so stop acting like the victim now."

Jimmy was practically shaking with regret. He never would have agreed

to this if he'd known she was this tough Parker said she was just

clever seventeen year-old hothonet

special physically. He'd told Jimmy to bring extra guys, just in case. So Jimmy called everyone he could, thinking a late-night job in the middle of nowhere would be easy.

Yeah, right. He'd been completely wrong. This wasn't some helpless girl. She was a force to be reckoned with.

"Please, miss, we're just doing our job. Let us off the hook, okay?"

His begging had barely left his mouth when a pair of headlights swept over them.

Lydia looked up and recognized the first car that had been tailing her.

As it drew closer, she let out a long sigh.

Aiden finally caught up, but his gut told him something was off. Cars were scattered everywhere, all of them crowding around one in the middle.

Connor's mood turned icy. Pathetic. You couldn't even keep up with a girl."

Aiden just took the hit. In front of his boss and Lydia, he really did feel useless.

The car pulled to a stop and Connor

jumped out right away. When he saw Lydia standing tall, foot on some guy's chest, with a dozen

more thugs knocked out around her, finally

all the tension in hischer,

eased.

"What are you doing here?" Lydia asked, rolling her eyes. Was this guy her shadow

or something?
