chapter134
Kylie felt so disgusted she thought she might actually throw up.
Cameron noticed how upset she was and gently rubbed her back. "Don't let them get to you. They're not worth it. They're just leeches. Don't waste your health on people like that."
He had seen through Rose and her family a long time ago, but Kylie and Rose had grown up together. Cameron didn't want to come between them or cause drama over a few million dollars a year. He figured the only thing he could do was wait until Kylie saw their true colors herself.
Finally, that day had come.
Kylie was furious and heartbroken all at once. After all, she'd poured real emotion into her friendship with Rose. Decades of loyalty and trust, only to realize Rose saw her as nothing more than a stepping stone to a better life. How could she not be angry? Her chest ached from it.
"I really need to thank Lydia. Without her, I'd have been fooled much longer," Kylie said, her voice trembling.
At the mention of their daughter, Cameron finally let himself smile, a wave of relief softening his features. "Yeah, who would have thought our girl would be the one to handle this mess? She can take over at the company for now. And if Rose calls again, you don't have to answer."
Kylie nodded. "I won't."
She'd made up her mind. She never wanted to see Rose or her family again. Not dragging up the past or seeking revenge for all the lies was the last bit of respect she could give to the friendship they once had.
Meanwhile, Rose sat frozen on the ground after the call ended, the hot pavement burning through her clothes. She felt like she might melt right there.
Parker just stared, stunned. "What are Cameron and Kylie doing? Are they really going to let Lydia mess up the company?"
Rose was just as lost. Kylie had always been easy to talk around, but lately she was different. She didn't believe a word R?se said anymore, It used to be that no matter what, Kylie would stand by her, no questions asked. Now, all of that had changed. And so suddenly.
Lydia... Of course. It had to be Lydia. That brat must have turned Kylie against her, ruining everything between them.
Rose grabbed her phone and called Kylie again. She had to explain, had to fix this. But no matter how many times she dialed, Kylie wouldn't pick up. Eventually, her calls stopped going through at all.
"Kylie... did she really block me?" Rose stared at her phone in disbelief, her heart pounding. Only now did she realize just how bad things had gotten. Kylie was truly angry this time. What were they supposed to do?
Parker shook his head, still in shock. "What got into them today? How could they treat you like this?"
Rose was starting to panic. "What do we do now? Is Kylie seriously done with us? What are we going to do?"
In the past, whenever Rose needed anything, Kylie would always help, no matter what it was. Now, with their son locked up, they'd tried
everything and Kylie h?d.
turned her
back on them. They were out of
options.
Parker clenched his jaw. "Cameron and Kylie think they're better than us just because they have money. I'd like to see how calm they'd be if their son was in jail."
So what now? Henry's still in there.
"What else can we do? We go to the Norwoods. Whatever it takes, we need to get them to help us get our son out.
