Chapter 1332

chapter1332

This little guy...

Connor watched the two of them snuggled up together, and he felt that familiar twinge of jealousy. He couldn't help moving closer. "Sweetheart, Daddy misses Mommy too. Can I have a hug?"

Immediately, Kristopher burrowed his head into Lydia's neck and mumbled, "No! Mommy is mine!"

Lydia couldn't help but laugh at their antics. She reached out to ruffle her son's hair, then stretched her other hand toward Connor.

He got the hint right away, leaning in so she could cup his cheek. Lydia's fingers brushed gently over his face. It was a habit she'd had since before she regained her sight, something comforting she still did without thinking.

Connor loved it. Nothing made him feel more at peace than Lydia's soft touch on his cheek, like he was a puppy finally being soothed.

He knew it looked a little pitiful, but what could he do? Their son was always competing with him for Lydia's attention.

Suddenly, Connor caught her hand and pressed it to his chest. "Seeing you spoil him so much, I'm actually getting jealous. How about we go home and have another baby, so he can see what that feels like?"

Lydia's cheeks turned pink. She gave him a playful push. "Are you really jealous of your own son? Grow up a little, will you?"

Kristopher looked up, wide-eyed and curious. "Mommy, what does 'another baby' mean? Are you going to give me a little brother or sister?"

Connor grinned and pinched Kristopher's soft cheek. "That's right. You'll have someone to play with."

Kristopher tilted his head, thinking hard. "Will my little brother or sister take you away from me?"

Connor scooped Kristopher out of Lydia's arms and into his own. "Let's go home first. We'll talk about it there."

The car pulled up quietly in front of Lydia's Garden. The rose-covered wall in the yard was bursting with blooms.

As soon as Kristopher's feet hit the ground, he dashed off on his chubby little legs to tell the news, his clear voice ringing out, "Great-Grandma, Mommy's home!"

Lydia paused in front of the roses and took a deep breath. The sweet scent of flowers and fresh grass filled the air. She turned to Connor, her eyes shining with love. "It's so good having you both here."

Connor slipped his arm around her shoulders. "Life is better because you're here with us."

Upstairs in the bedroom, Lydia headed straight for the bathroom. After ten days in the lab, she was desperate for a hot bath to wash the tiredness away.

When she came back wrapped in her robe, Kristopher was on tiptoe, carefully placing his favorite teddy bear on her pillow. He looked up at her with hopeful eyes. "Mommy, c?n I steep with you tonight?"

Lydia couldn't help smiling. "Of course you can.

Connor had already changed into his lounge clothes. When Lydia came out, he got up and handed her a cup of calming tea, his voice gentle but leaving no room for argument, Drink this before you sleep."

Lydia took slow sips, feeling warmth spread through her chest and chase away the exhaustion from the past days.

She set the empty cup aside and

slipped under the covers, her head sinking into the familiar

lavender-scented pillow. Drowsiness Swept over her in an instant.

Kristopher quietly climbed into bed, snuggling close beside her, his tiny body

pressed up against hers, his warm breath soft on her neck.

Connor lay down on her other side and pulled both of them into his arms.

"Mommy, I love you," Kristopher whispered, planting a gentle kiss on her cheek, his little voice full of trust.

Lydia kept her eyes closed, a smile curling at her lips as she squeezed her son's tiny hand.

Connor leaned over and kissed her forehead, his voice low and warm. "Sleep well. I hope you have the sweetest dreams."

Outside, the sound of crickets drifted through the quiet night. Inside, the only thing left was the soft, steady rhythm of their breathing.

In this little world filled with love, time seemed to stop for them.

All the stress and tiredness melted away, replaced by endless warmth and peace, flowing through the room like sunlight on a spring afternoon.
