Chapter 1319

chapter1319

Lucinda just stood there, stunned. The Jefferson family controlled the world's

biggest mercenary group? How had she never heard about any of this? She felt like the last person at the party to get the joke.

Lydia seemed to get it right away. Suddenly, everything clicked. Their real goal wasn't just the Norwood family's money. What mattered most was the power behind the Jefferson name.

"Why? Why did you keep all of this from me? Why didn't you ever tell me the truth?" Lucinda's voice shook. She felt like she'd been played for a fool. Everyone else seemed to know what was really going on, and the person who had lied to her the most was her own mother.

Grace looked at her daughter's furious eyes and started to panic. "Lucinda, everything we did was for your own good. You have to believe me."

Lydia's tone was icy. "Night Eagle? He's just a nobody, a small-time leader, and he thinks he can control the Jefferson family's power? That's just ridiculous."

"Shut up! If it weren't for you, our plan would have worked already!" Grace snapped, her voice rising. Lydia's sudden appearance had ruined everything.

Lydia just smirked. You really thought you could keep everything Night Eagle did under wraps forever? Every move you made crossed the line. You broke the law, and it was only a matter of time before it all came crashing down."

Grace's face drained of color, but she still refused to accept it. "No... that's impossible. We were always so careful. This is your fault. All of it. You ruined everything!"

Lydia's smile turned cold. "Night Eagle's already been caught by the police. You should both turn yourselves in while you still have the chance. Maybe you can at least be together in the end."

Grace stared at her in disbelief. "There's no way! He's safe in Country T. How could he possibly have been arrested?"

Lydia arched an eyebrow. Country T? So that's where Night Eagle was hiding. No wonder no one could find him in Country D. Grace had just blurted out the secret without thinking, and the moment she did, she realized Lydia had tricked her.

Rage flashed across Grace's face. "Lydia, how dare you fool me!" She rushed at Lydia, hand raised, and slapped her hard. The blow spun Lydia's head to the side. Her lip split open and blood trickled down her chin, staining her white shirt in bright red drops.

But Lydia just laughed, the sound sharp and mocking. "Grace, it's over for you and Night Eagle. Your time is up."

Watching this, something inside Lucinda snapped. Jealousy and hatred burned through her. She lunged at the nearest bodyguard, grabbed his pistol, and pointed it straight at Lydia. Lydia, I swear, you're not making it out of here alive!"

Right then, heavy footsteps

the stairs. A team of armed officers burst onto the top floor, weapons ready, forming a tight circle around them. Their leader had

fierce, cold eyes, and the badge on his chest glinted under the dim lights.

Lucinda's voice came out as a gasp. "Arthur?"

Lydia blinked in surprise. Arthur? Was he really here with the police?

He was. Arthur took in the scene all at once, his eyes landing on Lydia, the blood on her face, the bruise on her cheek. His stare turned icy He glared at Lucinda who seented completely lost, and his voice was colder than steel. "Drop your weapon."

Lucinda went pale. Even you... you're turning your back on me?"

Arthur didn't even blink. His tone was final. "Grace. Lucinda. You're both under

arrest for multiple crimes. It's over."
