chapter1269
Krista couldn't believe it. The man standing in front of her looked exactly like her husband, but he was just a clone. Honestly, it didn't make any difference to her. Clone or not, they were both the same kind of scum. It was like it was written in their genes.
"One hundred percent real. What's wrong, honey? Surprised to see me?" Krista made sure every word hit its mark.
Gianna stared at her, shaking her head, eyes wide in shock. "How is this possible? You... aren't you..."
"Aren't I supposed to be dying?" Krista's cold gaze swept across the room. She gave a chilly little laugh. "I really was about to die. I came so close. But then, out of nowhere, I met a miracle worker, a doctor who literally dragged me back from death. So what do you think? Surprised? Didn't see that coming, did you?"
Gianna refused to accept it. "No way. You saw so many doctors and none of them could cure you. How could you suddenly be fine? You must be faking it. You're pretending. You're not really Krista!"
She had been waiting for Krista to finally disappear. Now Krista was standing here, saying she was cured. No way was Gianna going to accept that.
Erik looked just as skeptical. He'd been watching Krista's health like a hawk. She was almost dead and now somehow looked totally normal? It was impossible.
"Krista, is there anything left you want to do? Any last wishes? Just tell me, I'll make it happen," Erik said, putting on his most gentle, caring face.
Krista felt a wave of nausea. She almost wanted to laugh. This clone really nailed Erik's fake charm. Even Victoria hadn't noticed her real son had been swapped out.
"I've got plenty left I want to do. But I don't need your help. If I want something, I'll get it myself."
She nodded to her lawyer, who immediately handed Erik the divorce papers. "Sign them."
Erik stared at the big, bold words DIVORCE AGREEMENT and actually grinned. "Krista, what's this supposed to mean?"
Krista smiled right back. You've got your mistress and your illegitimate daughter standing right here, and you're asking me what it means? Erik, did you really think I was dead and buried?"
Erik's face darkened. He really had thought Krista was as good as gone. Clearly, he'd been wrong.
Gianna and Marilyn looked just as miserable. Krista's words-mistress, illegitimate daughter-were like knives straight to the heart.
Gianna glared at Krista, refusing to back down. "Krista, you were bedridden, paralyzed, you couldn't take care of anything Someone had to step up and run the Bland family. I was just doing your job for you."
Krista arched an eyebrow. "So I'm supposed to be grateful?" Gianna lifted her chin, letting out a cold little snort.
Krista nodded. "You know what, you're right. I should thank you. You helped me see exactly what kind of, man he really is. Wh you love him, go ahead and keep him. He's just the trash I'm tossing out."
That did it. Victoria jumped up, face red with fury. "You little bitch. Who are you calling trash?"
Krista looked at Victoria,
remembering how she'd treated this old lady like royalty when she'd first married into the Bland family. She had been the real heiress, and Victoria was just an old rude shrew from the countryside. But since Victoria was Erik's mother, Krista had humbled herself, always trying to win her over.
Not that it ever mattered. A cruel heart stays cruel, no matter what.
Did you not hear me? I'm talking about your son. He's the trash I'm throwing away.
If I hadn't been blind enough to marry him back then, you would never have the life you're enjoying now."
