Chapter 1266

chapter1266

"Tonight, I need you to visit the Bland family estate for me. They're our next target. Once we've settled things here in the Capital, we'll head to Rock Bay."

"Okay."

Lucinda got home from school at five. No one had a clue how giddy she'd been the whole way back. Just thinking about Lydia being so helpless now and unable to see anything, made her want to laugh out loud. Still, when she came through the door, she forced herself to look serious.

She glanced around, hoping to see Lydia in the living room. There was no sign of her. Disappointed, she turned to Cameron and Kylie.

Dad, Mom, didn't Lydia come home? Where is she?"

Kylie wasn't in the mood to entertain Lucinda. She shot her a quick look and frowned.

"Who told you she was home?"

Lucinda's smile faltered. After a moment, she stammered,

"I... I heard Grandpa mention it yesterday."

Then she hurried to add, Lydia won first place in that medical competition in Country D. She's amazing. I've been waiting for her so I could congratulate her."

Cameron had no idea whether Lucinda was being sincere anymore. She'd changed so much, she was almost unrecognizable. Where had his kind, thoughtful daughter gone?

Lucinda, then Grandpa must have also told you what happened to your sister, right?" he asked.

If Grandpa said Lydia was back, he probably also mentioned her blindness.

Lucinda immediately put on a sympathetic look and nodded.

"Yes, Grandpa told me. Dad, Mom, don't be upset. Lydia's so talented in medicine, I'm sure she'll heal herself."

Kylie frowned even more.

"Lucinda, your sister's blindness is just temporary. When you're with her, watch what you say. Don't make her feel worse, okay?"

Lucinda bit her lip and nodded.

"I know, Mom. You and Dad don't have to worry. I'll never upset Lydia again."

From now on, Lydia would be blind. The Norwood family's reputation would depend on her.

"I'll... I'll go upstairs and check on her."

She didn't wait for a response. She practically skipped up the stairs.

Cameron watched her cheerful figure disappear and frowned.

"Does she seem like she really cares about Lydia?"

Kylie had lost all trust in Lucinda. She let out a soft, bitter laugh.

"I'd be shocked if she ever truly cared about Lydia."

Upstairs, Connor was in Lydia's room, helping her sketch out the winter designs for LYLX. Lydia described her ideas, and Connor did the drawing. He wasn't a

professional, but he had a real knack for it, so it came easily. The two of them worked together almost perfectly. If Lydia could see, she'd probably be amazed that his

sketches matched the images in her mind so closely.

Just then, someone knocked on the door. Lucinda's voice floated in from the hallway.

"Lydia, are you in there?"

Lydia frowned.

Connor couldn't stand Lucinda either. He glanced at Lydia.

"I'll tell her to go away."

But Lydia shook her head.

"Let her in. Let's see what she wants."

Connor hesitated, then stood up and went to open the door.

Lucinda already knew Connor was staying at the Norwood house. Hearing movement inside, she quickly tugged her shirt down a little from her shoulder and ran her fingers through her hair.

The door opened, and there he was-the handsome face she'd been thinking

out day and night.

put on a look of surprise.

"Connor, you're here too?"
