Chapter 1258

chapter1258

Lydia tried to stand up and fight with Connor, but a wave of dizziness hit her so hard she could barely keep her balance. Her fingers started shaking and she couldn't stop it.

Damn it. The poison was kicking in.

Everything in front of her blurred, and Connor's voice faded, sounding far away and muffled. She clung to his shirt, just acting on instinct.

In the chaos, Connor noticed something was off. He glanced over in a panic and saw her face had gone ghostly pale, cold sweat dripping down her forehead.

His heart squeezed tight. "Hang in there, Lydia." His voice trembled, barely holding it together.

He could handle dying, but Lydia had to survive.

"Punch through!" he shouted.

The driver floored it, and the armored car barreled straight toward a wall of flames. The heat warped the windshield, but somehow, they broke through the Blood Oath group's blockade.

Connor told the driver to turn. The car scraped the tunnel wall, finally breaking free. In the rearview mirror, masked figures chased after them, relentless.

Lydia's mind was slipping. She could hear Connor's heart pounding faster and faster, the thud echoing through his shirt right next to her ear.

After what felt like forever, the car screeched to a stop in an abandoned container yard. Everything was eerily quiet, except for the faint sound of waves in the distance.

"Listen to me, Lydia." Connor gently held her face, wiping the cold sweat from her brow. Garrett's lab is ten kilometers from here. I'm taking you to get the antidote, but there could be more trouble on the way. Stay with me. Don't fall asleep."

Lydia forced her eyes open. Connor's eyes were so bloodshot it looked like the red was spreading into his irises. She tried to smile, but all she managed was a crooked twitch. "Okay..."

Before she could say anything else, he scooped her up into his arms.

There was a modified motorcycle in the trunk.

"Hold on tight." Connor put on his helmet, then guided her arms around his waist.

He needed to get Lydia out, get to Garrett, and get the antidote. The bodyguards could handle whatever was left here.

The bike roared to life and shot out of the container yard. Lydia pressed her cheek against his back, listening to his heartbeat rumble in his chest doing everything she could to stay awake.

They barely rounded the second corner when three black SUVs came flying out of an alley.

Connor twisted the throttle, weaving through traffic in a blur. Lydia could feel the tension in his arms, every sharp turn scraping the bike close t the ground.

She forced herself to move, reaching for the dagger hidden in her boot, using every last bit of strength.

"On your left! she shouted, and flung the dagger. It sailed through the air, smashing straight into the left SUV's windshield.

The car spun out, crashed into a lamppost, and exploded in flames.

The other two cars only got more desperate. One even aimed right for them.

Connor slammed the brakes. The bike skidded, and his knee hit the asphalt hard, blood soaking through his jeans.

In the split second before chaos hit, Lydia spotted a massive neon beer bottle billboard glowing blue on the side of the road.

She yanked off Connor's tie and wrapped it tight around her hand. "Go for it!"

Connor hesitated just a second before he understood.

He revved the engine and aimed straight at the billboard.

As the enemy car closed in, Lydia grabbed the edge of the billboard with the tie, using the bike's speed to

swing them up. They soared into the

air flying right over the top of th

SUV.
