chapter1192
Juna's sudden shout made Mikey wish he could disappear. He turned around and, sure enough, there were Juna and Lydia staring right at him. Instantly, he shoved Mona away, pulling her hands off his tie.
Mona glared at Mikey, her eyes shining with tears, looking like she might start bawling any second. Mikey, you saw me! You have to man up and take responsibility!"
Her dramatic outburst made even Juna, who lived for gossip, pause. Lydia just looked stunned. Saw her? Saw what, exactly?
Mikey felt like he was being set up and tried to defend himself, sounding as calm as he could. "Miss Brown, you've got it all wrong. It was just a misunderstanding."
Mona wasn't having it. "What misunderstanding? You saw me, so now you have to be my boyfriend! If you don't, how am I supposed to get married?"
As soon as she finished, Mona burst into tears, her pretty face a mess of misery and mascara.
Mikey froze. He glanced at Lydia, silently begging for help.
Lydia understood and stepped in. "Miss Brown, can you explain what actually happened between you and Mikey?"
Mona shot Lydia a hostile look. "Are you one of his admirers too?"
Lydia didn't know how to respond.
Mikey couldn't take it anymore. "Stop making stuff up!"
Mona pouted, wiping her eyes. "Then why are you so nervous? I was just asking."
Juna let out a big sigh and looked Mona up and down. "Miss Brown, you caused a scene at the party for everyone to see. Now you're worried no one will marry you just because someone looked at you? That didn't add up."
Mona didn't expect Juna to clap back like that. She glared, furious. "And who are you supposed to be?"
Mona didn't visit the Capital much. She might have heard Juna's name, but recognizing her in person was a different story.
Juna rolled her eyes. "Who I am doesn't matter. Why don't you focus on explaining what's going on between you and Mikey? Don't ruiny your own reputation and then try to leech off the Jefferson family if you can't get married."
Mona noticed how smoothly Juna said Mikey's name and immediately decided she
must be another one of his fans. "You are into Mikey too?"
Juna looked at Mona like she
couldn't believe what she was
hearing. "Did Mr. Brown really raise a
obsessed with
daughter who's thuse everyone
tomance? Do you
you meet of being in love with him?"
Mona was fuming. Back in Maple Town, nobody dared talk to her like this. Whatever she said, people did. But here in the Capital, everyone seemed ready to throw shade at her.
"You!" Mona jabbed her finger at Juna, looking like she wanted to start a catfight right there.
Juna just smirked. "What about me? You want to settle this? I'm ready if you are. Juna wasn't as tough as Lydia, but she could definitely handle herself.
Mona glared. "I'm telling my mommy! She'll put you in your place. Let's see how cocky you can be then!"
Juna gasped in fake shock. Seriously? Are you a little kid? Can't win an argument, so you run home to your mom?"
"You just wait! I'm getting my mommy right now!"
With that, Mona stormed off, still fuming from Juna's taunts.
Juna called after her, pretending to be disappointed. "Hey, don't go! I'm not finished yet. Come back!"
Mikey and Lydia just stood there, completely speechless.
