chapter117
"Henry?"
Lydia narrowed her eyes, her expression sharp and dangerous. She'd seen Henry on the security footage before. Disgusting didn't even begin to cover it. He was always messing around in the office, totally shameless.
Honestly, the apple didn't fall far from the tree. Parker, Rose, and Henry treated Greenward Power like their personal piggy bank. They did whatever they wanted, never caring about rules or consequences.
"Yes, Ms. Norwood. He already threatened me. If I don't do what he wants, he said he'll kick me out of the company..." Jenny's voice trembled with fear and helplessness.
Lydia gave a short, cold laugh. Don't worry about it. I'll take care of him. You just focus on your work."
"Ms. Norwood, thank you. Really, thank you so much."
"And by the way, I've seen your designs. You're really talented. After lunch, come to my office, and I'll go through your portfolio with you. I can help you polish a few things."
"Really? Ms. Norwood, I... I'll come by at lunchtime!" Jenny's voice was suddenly bright and hopeful.
To Jenny, Lydia felt like this beam of light cutting through the gloom. For the first time, she felt seen. All of a sudden, Henry's threats didn't seem so scary anymore.
"Alright."
As soon as Lydia hung up, someone knocked at her office door. Henry's voice drifted in, light and mocking. "Ms. Norwood? Are you in there?"
Lydia just smirked, her lips curling in a cold smile. She didn't bother to answer.
Henry called out three more times. When no one replied, he sounded annoyed. "She's not here? That doesn't make sense. I've been watching. She's definitely inside."
"Maybe she didn't sleep well last night and dozed off in there," Keith guessed.
Henry thought about it and nodded. He was no stranger to late nights and sleeping at his desk. Lydia was so young, after all. She might have the president's title but what da girl her age know about running a company?
The idea made him grin. If she was napping inside, wasn't this the perfect chance to get close to her?
He eased the door open, trying to sneak in. But as soon as he looked up, he froze. Lydia was right there,
leaning back in her chair with her
arms crossed, those icy eyes fixed on him.
She didn't say a word, but the cold energy rolling off her made Henry's heart skip a beat.
Uh... haha, Ms. Norwood, I called and didn't hear anything. I thought maybe something happened to you. Don't mind me. Let me introduce myself..."
"No bother, Mr. Ragain."
Most people at work called him Mr. Ragain, all respectful and careful. Lydia said it differently, making it clear she knew exactly who he was, and she wasn't impressed.
"Ms. Norwood, you don't have to be so formal with me. Call me Henry. Whatever you like."
"Mr. Ragain, it's work hours. Watch what you say."
Henry strolled over to her desk, not even trying to hide how sleazy he was being. "Ms. Norwood, ever had a boyfriend?"
Lydia's gaze turned even colder.
Henry didn't get the hint. He stared at her, totally mesmerized by her striking face, and started running his
jorgeous ady
mouth. "Someone as gorgeous as you must have a ton of guys chasing after you. Your skin looks amazing too. Let me guess, you've had plenty of older guys spoiling you, right?"
He was way out of line. As he spoke, he even reached out, trying to touch Lydia's
face, completely ignoring all boundaries.
