chapter115
Jenny's face turned pale, almost ghostly.
Henry just laughed, loud and cocky, like he owned the world.
Keith, his ever-eager sidekick, leaned toward Jenny and gave her a not-so-subtle reminder. "You should really get Mr. Ragain's number. Don't miss your chance. Seriously, getting noticed by him is like the luck of a lifetime."
Girls in the company would line up just for a glance from Henry, but he never gave them a second thought.
"No, I... I really do have a boyfriend." Jenny's words tumbled out in a panic. She had only just started at the front desk, and already Henry, with his devil-may-care attitude, had noticed her. Tears pricked in her eyes. She felt trapped.
Henry watched her struggle, eyes gleaming with amusement. "Two hundred thousand. Just spend a few days with me," he said, voice low and teasing.
Jenny had that kind of beauty no makeup could fake. Even in her plain receptionist uniform, her figure stood out, and there was this innocent vibe about her that drew people in. Men like Henry always wanted what they couldn't have. Most girls in the office would give anything for his attention, but Jenny's refusal was like a challenge.
"Mr. Ragain, please, just leave me alone. I really don't want to," Jenny begged, her voice breaking as her eyes filled with tears.
Henry gave a cold little laugh. "If you really don't want to..."
For a moment, hope flickered in Jenny's eyes.
Just quit. Leave the company. Don't ever let me see you again. If you change your mind, you know where to find me. I'll be waiting in my office."
As he walked away, Henry blew her a kiss, grinning with shameless confidence.
Keith hurried after him into the elevator. He was all smiles, trying to please. "Mr. Ragain, don't worry. Anyone you want, you get. That's how it's always been."
Henry's mouth twisted into a sly smile. "Book a room tonight, same place as usual. I want to have some fun with that girl."
"You got it."
When the elevator doors opened on the top floor, they saw Josef heading into an office with a striking young lady by his side. She was beautiful, with this cool, untouchable energy.
Henry let out a low whistle. "I leave for a couple of days, and suddenly there's a whole new batch of pretty girls around here?"
He glanced back at Keith. "She might be an intern secretary. It's summer break, so a bunch of graduates are coming in for internships," Keith explained.
That made sense to Henry. Summer was peak season for new hires, which meant even more fresh faces to chase after. He liked the idea.
Inside the office, Lydia and Josef walked in together. Lydia set down a folder and started flipping through a stack of designs.
She was genuinely impressed.
Jenny's work stood out each piece had a unique flair, and even though there were flaws, with the right guidance, this girl could become a real star fashion
Are these your designs?" Josef asked, curiosity in his voice. The sketches really did look good.
"No, they're not mine."
"Then whose are they?"
"They belong to an assistant in the design department. She ran into me yesterday." Josef looked surprised. "These are hers?"
"She's got real talent, but HR just reassigned her to the front desk today. Total waste of potential."
Josef hadn't heard about this. He nodded right away. "I'll talk to HR this afternoon and figure out what happened. I'll get her back to the design department as soon as possible."
Lydia nodded. "We need new talent if we want better designs. Most of what I say in the production department yesterday was already outdated. It just shows the whole design team could use some new energy."
Josef agreed. I've noticed that too, but the design department is the heart of the company. All the top designers were brought up by Marissa, and she hates taking on newcomers. Honestly, I haven't been able to do much about it."
