chapter1076
"What? Marilyn, you went to wake her up and she gave you attitude?" Yara looked at her like she had just heard the wildest gossip.
Marilyn just got even more annoyed seeing Yara's reaction. "Right? Look at the time. She's still in bed. Does she really think she's all that just because she got first place in the academic competition?"
Yara shook her head and let out a sigh. Exactly. She's only acting like this because she's Mr. Moore's prized student. If it hadn't been a freshman-only event, you and Collin would have wiped the floor with her. No way she'd have gotten first place."
Collin, who had been quiet the whole time, turned a little red when Yara mentioned him. He added, "She's way too full of herself. But if she doesn't show up, what if she drags down our team score?"
Word was, this competition didn't just have individual awards. There was a team score too.
That was exactly why Marilyn was so worked up. She huffed, "I already told her not to hold us back. Later, we'll go straight to Dr. Tomlinson and tell him Lydia said she doesn't need the training."
Seeing everyone on her side for once made Yara feel so much better. She still remembered how annoyed she felt watching all those votes for Lydia on the school forum. Lydia stole all her thunder, and it drove her crazy. Thank goodness her grandpa pulled some strings this time. If Lydia made it to the international competition and she didn't, she'd never live it down. Just wait. At this international medical competition, she was going to put Lydia in her place for good.
"Alright, let's go find Dr. Tomlinson first."
Dr. Tomlinson wasn't just a professor. He worked at the university hospital too, and he was a big name in surgery. Today they had the chance to watch a heart surgery, which was huge for them. Who would've thought Lydia would still be sleeping in her dorm, acting like she didn't need to learn anything? She was just unbelievable.
After listening to the three of them, Dr. Tomlinson paused for a moment. "I'll talk to Lydia about this later. For now, go get changed and head into the OR."
Marilyn nodded hard. "Yes, Dr. Tomlinson. We really don't want her dragging down the whole team."
He nodded, looking thoughtful. He actually admired Lydia's talent a lot, just like the other professors. He didn't know exactly how good she was but her attitude fately was starting to worry him.
News that Lydia was heading to Country D for the international medical competition got to Connor and Garrett pretty quickly. Both of
them were already there anoth of
honestly, their biggest worry was Lydia pushing herself too hard and triggering her condition And now she was actually coming to join the competition?
Connor was worried, but he waited for Lydia's lunch break before calling her.
Lydia had just walked into the cafeteria with Fiona and Monica when her phone rang. It was Connor.
"Have you had lunch yet?"
His voice was deep and warm, and Lydia felt a little lighter just hearing it. "Yeah, I'm at the cafeteria right now."
He couldn't help but ask, "I heard you're coming to Country D for a medical competition?"
She smiled. Word gets around, huh?
Connor let out a soft laugh. "Of
course keep tabs on my fianc e But your health... you really shouldn't be overdoing it. Competitions can be exhausting."
Especially this one. Garrett had been through it and knew how tough it was, all the
rounds and tests. Both of them were worried about Lydia handling it.
"It's fine. I'm not going into battle or anything. I'll be okay."
