chapter1070
Kylie stood right beside Lucinda and caught every word Caspian said. She sighed and suggested, "Why not just have Caspian come over to the house? We're
heading back anyway."
Cameron chimed in, "Yeah, let him come to the house. We can all have lunch together."
Lucinda felt like she had no way out, so she told Caspian to meet them at the Norwood place.
Caspian was over the moon and agreed right away.
After hanging up, Lucinda clenched her jaw in frustration. As soon as Lydia was out of the picture, she'd kick Caspian to the curbs.
Meanwhile, Caspian, now set to visit the Norwoods, ended the call and dashed upstairs to get ready. Every time he saw Lucinda, he made sure to put extra effort into his appearance. Even though Lucinda never seemed to notice, never said he looked good, never paid him a real compliment, he still wanted to show her his very best self.
Downstairs, Breanna sat with Mrs. Hansen on the sofa, watching Caspian rush around. To her, her younger brother was hopeless. Lucinda clearly didn't want to see him, but he just wouldn't give up.
"Mom, Caspian's obsessed with Lucinda. Aren't you going to step in?" Breanna complained.
She didn't mind her brother dating, but Lucinda obviously wasn't serious about him. In her eyes, Lucinda was just stringing Caspian along as a backup. That's why Breanna couldn't support them.
Mrs. Hansen just sighed. He's had a crush on that Norwood girl for years. You know that better than anyone. Now that he finally has a chance, maybe it's not so bad. Let him be."
Breanna rolled her eyes. "But Lucinda doesn't actually like him! She's just keeping him as her backup, can't you see that?"
She still remembered that time at the mall when Lucinda made Caspian buy one- point-six billion in jewelry, and at full price, right in front of her. If she hadn't been there... who knows how much more Lucinda would've taken advantage of her brother, all for the sake of showing off.
Mrs. Hansen glanced at Breanna. "You really think he doesn't know? Even if you talk to him, would he listen?"
Breanna had nothing to say to that.
Mrs. Hansen shook her head. "Sometimes people just have to learn the hard way. If Miss Norwood ever really wants to join our family, that'd be great. If not, he'll have to accept it and move on."
Having something and never having it are two totally different feelings. When it's just out of reach, you can imagine anything. Once you actually have it, you realize it's rarely as perfect as you dreamed.
Breanna huffed. "Fine, since she's stringing him along, Caspian should at least bring her home. They've been together for a while and he's already spent a fortune on her Having her over for a mealisht

much to ask."
She just wanted her brother to face reality and stop wasting his time.
Mrs. Hansen stayed calm. "If she really wanted to, with the way your brother is, you
don't think he'd have brought her home already? Let's just leave it for now."
The Hansen family might not be as rich as the Norwoods, but they weren't that far off. Both families were well known in the city. Over the years so many daughters from good families had tried to win Mrs. Hansen over, hoping to marry into the family, but Caspian only ever had eyes for Lucinda. What could she do?
Now that the Norwood heiress had broken things off with the Jeffersons, it was finally Caspian's turn. He was chasing after her with everything he had, and Mrs. Hansen couldn't stop him, so she just let it be.
Breanna was at her wit's end. "Fine! You've got money to burn. Let your son waste it then!"
That Lucinda was no pushover.
Right as she finished, Caspian came flying down the stairs looking sharp, a little breathless. He stopped in front of them. "Mom, Breanna, do look alright? he didn't have much time, so he just grabbed something to wear.

Breanna rolled her eyes at him and didn't even bother to answer.
