Chapter 1060

chapter1060

Lucinda's heart clenched tight. She asked quietly, "Mom, did something happen?"

Kylie hesitated. "Something did, but I can't explain it all over the phone. Don't say anything to your grandfather yet. We'll talk when you get home."

The old man couldn't handle bad news these days, and Kylie didn't want to upset him unless she had to.

Hearing her mom's tone made Lucinda even more anxious. It had to be about Frank. She thought back to that call from Grace earlier-what on earth was Grace thinking? And Frank, what could he do besides gamble? Actually, he couldn't even win at that. He was hopeless at everything.

She must have lost her mind to let Grace talk her into bringing Frank into the Norwood family.

Her thoughts were all over the place as she hung up. Her grandfather noticed something was off and asked, "Lucinda, is everything alright at home?"

She forced a small smile. "Nothing's wrong, Grandpa, really. Mom just wants me to come home for a bit. The nurse will stay with you, and I'll be back soon."

Deep down, Lucinda did want her grandfather to know something was up. He was the only one in the family who actually cared about her. If things went south and Lydia tried to use this as an excuse to kick her out, maybe her grandfather would protect her.

There was no way she was letting Lydia win. No one was kicking her out of the Norwood family.

Her grandfather could tell she wasn't telling him everything, but he just nodded and said, "Alright, you go ahead."

"Okay."

Before heading out, Lucinda slipped into a quiet corner and called Grace. The second Grace picked up, Lucinda whispered angrily, "Grace, what are you doing? Why would you set up my grandfather like that? Now my parents and Lydia definitely know something's up. What am I supposed to do?"

Lucinda could barely hold in her frustration. Why did Lydia always have people helping her, while her awn side was full of idiots Shed hoped Grace would be different, but clearly not. They were all just making things worse.

Grace realized Lucinda was furious about them acting on their own, but she was just

following Night Eagle's instructions. This was what Night Eagle wanted.

"Lucinda, I'm sorry. I know today was a mess, but you have to believe us we're doing this for you."

Lucinda let out a dry laugh. "For me?

You call this helping me? Now everything's out in the open, what am supposed to do? You know everyone in the Norwood family siding with Lydia. Why would you do this? I've only ever wanted to get rid of Lydia, not hurt my grandfather."

She was so angry she could scream. How was she supposed to face her family now? Just thinking about it made her head ache.

Grace tried to calm her. Lucinda, it was Frank, not you. What are you so worried about?"

But... he knows everything. What if he slips up and drags me into it?

"You're his daughter. He wants you to stay in the Norwood family. He won't turn on you. He'll just say he never saw you. Don't stress."

Lucinda didn't know how to respond. What happened today had put her in real danger. Lydia had been waiting for a chance to get rid of her, and now, thanks to her own people, she'd practically handed her that chance.
