chapter1045
Lucinda found herself resenting Juna now, too.
"By the way, tomorrow is Carson's eightieth birthday," Kylie announced over dinner. "Lydia, Lucinda, you should both come with us. Carson is the president of the national Go Association and the brother of the dean of Capital College. So many students dream about having him as a mentor. You two should give it a shot and see what happens."
Lucinda's interest sparked right away. Beating Lydia at something, finally, would be a dream come true.
She'd heard plenty about Carson. He was a legend in the Rowland family and had more prestige than anyone else in their social circle. Tons of rich kids wanted to be his apprentice, but he never accepted anyone. Still, if she managed to give him a birthday gift he liked, maybe he'd make an exception for her.
She'd been playing Go since she was little and had learned from famous teachers, but none of them compared to Carson.
"That's amazing, Mom! If Carson takes me and Lydia as his students, our skills will skyrocket."
Kylie nodded. "That's exactly what your father and I were thinking. The only question is whether Carson is still interested in taking apprentices."
Cameron grinned. "We'll find out soon enough when we show up tomorrow." Suddenly, Lucinda asked, Mom, Dad... does Lydia even know how to play Go?"
Honestly, she'd never heard about Lydia playing before. It made sense, though. Lydia already had a million talents. She couldn't possibly have time to master everything, right? For a second, Lucinda felt a rush of confidence.
Cameron and Kylie exchanged a look. They hadn't heard anything about it either.
"Whether she knows or not doesn't matter," Kylie said. "With your sister's talent, there's nothing she can't pick up if she really tries.
"Exactly," Cameron chimed in. "And whenever she learns something new, she's gonna become a pro."
Lucinda watched her parents gush over Lydia like she was some kind of miracle. The urge to roll her eyes
was almost overwhelming. Suronet
Lydia was ther daughter
but did
they have to brag as if she was perfect at everything?
Lydia, are you coming with us tomorrow?" Lucinda asked, trying to sound casual.
From what she knew, Lydia usually
avoided going out with the Norwood family. She never liked being in the for showing off her rear identity. That actually worked out for Lucinda. She wasn't ready for the
world to know Lydia was the real
Norwood daughter just yet.
But Cameron replied with a smile, "I heard Connor is away on a business trip. Lydia
will definitely be joining us for Carson's party."
Kylie's eyes lit up. "Yes, Lydia! All the
Let
most important families in the city will be there Why don't we finally tell
everyone who you really are?"
It was obvious how much Kylie and Cameron wanted to show Lydia off. They'd been
waiting forever to introduce their brilliant daughter to the world.
Cameron leaned forward, excited. "I was thinking the same thing. Lydia, it's been ages. Don't you think it's time?"
Lydia acted like she was considering it.
When she didn't immediately refuse, Lucinda's nerves spiked. What was Lydia up
to? Was she actually going to agree? That couldn't happen.
"Well... I guess I'm ready," Lydia said slowly.
Cameron and Kylie lit up with excitement. Since you're ready, we'll introduce you to everyone tomorrow!"
